Job Title: Systems and Automation Developer

Reports To: Director of Operations

Position Type & Status: Full Time, Exempt

Location: Chattanooga, TN (onsite) or Remote

Purpose Statement

The Systems and Automation Developer exists to strengthen CBMC’s ministry impact by improving how our systems connect, automate, and deliver reliable data across the organization. This role focuses on building integrations, streamlining workflows, and ensuring that teams have access to accurate, accessible information to support decision-making and ministry effectiveness.

Working closely with Operations and cross-functional teams, this role helps reduce manual work, increase system reliability, and create scalable solutions that support the growth of the ministry.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Systems Integration

Ensure reliable system connectivity and data flow by designing and supporting integrations across core ministry platforms, building, and maintaining API-based connections, monitoring and resolving synchronization issues, collaborating with vendors and technical partners, and contributing to a scalable integration approach across systems. Build and maintain API-based integrations between systems.
 

  • Automation & Workflow Design

Design and improve operational efficiency by designing and implementing workflow automation across systems, building triggers and repeatable processes, enhancing consistency in workflows, and streamlining manual or repetitive tasks for internal teams. Design and implement workflow automation across systems.

  • Data Infrastructure & Pipelines

Build and support the integrity and accessibility of data across systems by building and maintaining data pipelines, ensuring consistent data structures across platforms, resolving data integrity issues, and adhering to data governance practices, including appropriate data access boundaries. Build and maintain data pipelines between systems.

  • Data Access & Reporting Enablement

Build and support the systems and data structures that enable reporting and analytics by developing and maintaining reliable datasets, improving data accessibility for decision-making, enabling self-service reporting for internal teams, and translating operational needs into effective data solutions.

  • Continuous Improvement & Documentation

Collaborate with the Operations team to continuously improve systems, workflows, and data processes by implementing scalable solutions, enhancing platform efficiency, and maintaining clear, structured documentation that supports long-term sustainability and organizational best practices.

Education & Experience:

  • Required:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
    • One to two years + experience working with data systems, integrations, or automation tools.
    • Strong understanding of relational data structures and SQL
    • Experience working with APIs, webhooks, or system integrations.
    • Familiarity with workflow automation tools (Power Automate, Zapier, Make, or similar)
    • Experience with reporting or analytics tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar)
    • Ability to troubleshoot issues across multiple systems.
    • Strong problem-solving and systems thinking skills.
       
  • Preferred: 
    • Experience working with CRM platforms (such as Microsoft Dynamics or Salesforce).
    • Experience building data pipelines or ETL processes.
    • Familiarity with scripting or programming languages (Python, JavaScript, or similar).
    • Experience working with cloud-based platforms and SaaS ecosystems.
    • Experience using AI-assisted tools to build or support technical solutions.
    • Experience working in nonprofit or ministry environments.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $65,000 - $85,000 Annually
