General Summary
Vertex is seeking a Principal Analyst, CGT Agentic Solutions to drive the design and implementation of advanced AI-enabled and agentic technologies across our Cell and Gene Therapy (CGT) organization. This role is ideal for a technically strong professional who can bridge data, AI, systems integration, and digital product delivery to create scalable solutions in a complex and highly regulated environment.
The Principal Analyst will work closely with engineering, data, platform, and business analysts to develop intelligent solutions that automate workflows, orchestrate information, enhance decision-making, and improve operational efficiency across CGT. This role will play a key part in shaping how agentic architectures, AI services, and enterprise data ecosystems are applied to real-world scientific and operational challenges.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Design and support the implementation of agentic and AI-enabled solutions for CGT use cases across commercial, development, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain
  • Translate technical and operational needs into solution designs, system requirements, integration patterns, and implementation plans
  • Partner with software engineers, data engineers, architects, and product teams to deliver scalable and secure digital solutions
  • Define and evaluate agent workflows, orchestration logic, prompt patterns, tool usage, and knowledge retrieval approaches for enterprise applications
  • Support development of solutions leveraging large language models, retrieval-augmented generation, workflow automation, APIs, and enterprise data services
  • Analyze existing systems, data flows, and technical architectures to identify opportunities for automation, optimization, and modernization
  • Contribute to the design of data pipelines, integration frameworks, and system interoperability models supporting agentic platforms
  • Ensure solutions align with security, privacy, validation, and compliance requirements in a regulated biotechnology environment
  • Establish technical standards, performance measures, and operational monitoring approaches for deployed solutions
  • Evaluate emerging AI, cloud, and automation technologies and recommend practical applications within CGT
  • Support production readiness, testing strategy, release planning, and continuous improvement of technical solutions
  • Serve as a technical leader and subject matter expert for agentic solution capabilities within the CGT digital ecosystem

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Hands-on experience working with AI/ML-enabled applications, enterprise platforms, system integrations, or intelligent automation solutions
  • Experience with Salesforce Agentforce or building AI agents/automations on Salesforce Platforms
  • Experience defining and supporting the implementation of technical architectures, APIs, data flows, and workflow automation patterns
  • Strong understanding of large language models, agentic systems, orchestration concepts, or applied AI solution design
  • Experience collaborating with engineering, architecture, data, and product teams in Agile or product-based delivery environments
  • Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills with the ability to work across complex enterprise ecosystems
  • Familiarity with compliance, security, data governance, and validation considerations in regulated environments

Technical Skills Required:
  • Large language model application design and AI solution analysis
  • Agentic workflows, orchestration frameworks, and prompt design concepts
  • API design/integration and service-based architecture
  • Data modeling, data flows, and enterprise integration patterns
  • Workflow automation and intelligent process orchestration
  • SQL and data analysis skills
  • Experience with scripting or programming languages such as Python, SQL, or similar
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms and modern data ecosystems
  • Understanding of RAG architectures, vector search, knowledge retrieval, and document grounding approaches
  • Experience with tools and platforms such as Azure, Databricks, Power BI, Jira, Confluence, Git, or similar technologies
  • SDLC, Agile delivery, testing, and release management practices
  • Technical documentation, solution design, and systems troubleshooting

Preferred Skills:
  • Advanced degree in a technical or scientific discipline
  • Experience in Cell and Gene Therapy, biopharmaceutical manufacturing, quality, or laboratory environments
  • Experience with conversational AI, agent frameworks, enterprise copilots, or generative AI platforms
  • Familiarity with GxP systems, CSV, validation processes, and regulated platform deployment
  • Experience working with cloud-native architectures, data engineering pipelines, or MLOps practices
  • Ability to operate as a technical lead across multiple workstreams and stakeholders
  • Experience evaluating and implementing emerging AI technologies in an enterprise setting

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Bioinformatics, Information Systems, or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in technical solution delivery, systems analysis, software/product engineering support, or platform implementation in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, life sciences, or another regulated industry

Pay Range:
$142,800 - $214,200
Disclosure Statement:
The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
