Project Overview:

Bechtel’s Manufacturing and Technology (M&T) Business Unit is designing, building and commissioning a semiconductor fab in Clay, NY. Job Summary:

The CIF Superintendent is responsible for the safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of coating, insulation, and fireproofing construction activities within assigned project areas. The role provides direct leadership to Craft Professionals and subcontractors while ensuring coating, insulation, and fireproofing systems are installed, inspected, documented, and turned over in accordance with project requirements. The CIF Superintendent drives workface planning, subcontractor coordination, productivity, safety, quality, material readiness, progress tracking, and system readiness to support construction, commissioning, and turnover objectives.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Leads coating, insulation, and fireproofing construction activities within assigned areas of responsibility, including field execution, subcontractor coordination, and daily work prioritization.
  • Directs field supervision, craft professionals, and subcontractors to ensure CIF work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with drawings, specifications, installation standards, subcontract requirements, quality requirements, and project procedures.
  • Drives look-ahead planning, workface planning, IWP and CWP readiness, short interval planning, sequencing, labor, materials, tools, permits, access, and constraint removal to support productive field execution.
  • Coordinates CIF activities with superintendents, field engineers, subcontractors, and other disciplines to resolve field issues, maintain progress to ensure project schedule is maintained.
  • Works with field engineering to support inspections, quality verification, NCR resolution, condition reports, corrective action plans, punch-list resolution, and turnover documentation.
  • Responsible for material management and installation readiness for coating systems, fireproofing systems, insulation materials, including preparations for all required installation tooling and personnel protection equipment is readily available to support your schedule.
  • Promotes and enforces project ES&H requirements, Integrated Safety Management System principles, and the Zero Accidents safety program.
Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience lieu of degree. 

Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Knowledge of coating, fireproofing, industrial insulation systems, surface preparation, installation methods, as well as required tools and personnel protection applications related field construction practices.
  • Experience managing CIF direct hire Craft Professionals, subcontractor’s execution, construction work packages, field design changes, NCR’s, and progress reporting.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, isometrics, IWPs, subcontract documents, vendor information, installation standards, inspection requirements, and project procedures.
  • Skills to quickly learn and apply Bechtel Standard Work Processes Procedures (SWPPs), Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).
  •  Ability to drive ES&H requirements, integrate Safety Management System and the Zero Accidents safety program into every aspect of your daily activities.
  • Strong leadership, communication, coordination, problem-solving, and field decision-making skills with the ability to lead craft professionals, subcontractors, field engineering, quality, project controls, and other construction disciplines in a schedule-driven project environment.
