How You Will Make an Impact:
This position is critical to the safe, efficient, and disciplined execution of Atlas' capital projects. The Field Construction Manager serves as the on-site leader responsible for coordinating contractors, enforcing schedule discipline, maintaining safety standards, and ensuring quality execution across Sand & Logistics and Power projects.

By providing consistent field oversight and proactive issue resolution, this role reduces schedule delays, prevents rework, improves contractor productivity, and strengthens accountability at the project level. A strong field leadership presence ensures projects are executed safely, on time, and in alignment with approved budgets and construction plans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily on-site construction activities across assigned capital projects.
  • Coordinate and manage multiple contractors and subcontractors to ensure alignment with project scope and schedule.
  • Monitor field productivity and proactively address sequencing or coordination conflicts.
  • Ensure construction activities adhere to approved schedules, identifying and escalating risks to the critical path.
  • Conduct daily site walks to verify quality, safety compliance, and work progress.
  • Enforce safety standards and ensure compliance with Atlas safety policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Review and validate contractor work plans, lift plans, and method statements.
  • Support schedule recovery efforts and develop field-level mitigation strategies when delays occur.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Project Controls to ensure accurate reporting of progress and percent complete.
  • Identify potential change order drivers early and communicate impacts to project leadership.
  • Support constructability reviews and recommend improvements to sequencing and workface planning.
  • Oversee QA/QC processes to ensure work meets engineering specifications and quality standards.
  • Participate in commissioning, startup, and turnover activities to ensure smooth project handoff.
  • Maintain accurate field documentation including daily reports, progress tracking, and issue logs.
  • Facilitate coordination meetings between contractors, engineering, and operations personnel.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to site supervisors and junior field staff.
  • Promote continuous improvement initiatives in safety, execution efficiency, and cost control.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related discipline preferred; equivalent field experience considered.
  • 12+ years of progressive field construction experience within industrial, energy, infrastructure, or heavy civil environments.
  • Minimum of 5+ years in a construction leadership role (Field Manager, Senior Superintendent, General Superintendent, or similar).
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing projects ranging from $10MM-$100MM+.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, workface planning, and field productivity management.
  • Proven experience managing multiple contractors and complex scopes simultaneously.
  • Ability to interpret and execute against CPM project schedules.
  • Strong working knowledge of civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and automation construction disciplines.
  • Experience supporting schedule recovery and mitigation planning.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and industrial construction safety best practices.
  • Experience reviewing construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Ability to identify constructability concerns and recommend practical solutions.
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to hold contractors accountable.
  • Effective communication skills for coordinating across project teams and stakeholders.
  • Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with strong decision-making capabilities.
  • Ability to operate independently in high-accountability, fast-paced project environments.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily field-based in active industrial construction environments.
  • Frequent exposure to outdoor conditions including heat, cold, wind, dust, and varying weather conditions.
  • Exposure to heavy equipment, construction noise, and active work zones.
  • Regular walking on uneven terrain, climbing ladders and scaffolding, and accessing elevated platforms.
  • Use of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times on construction sites.
  • Extended work hours during critical construction phases, commissioning periods, or schedule recovery efforts.
  • Travel between project sites within Sand & Logistics and Power divisions as required.
