Essential Functions:
1. Lead the development, implementation, communication, and continuous improvement of YNA's EHS policies, programs, procedures, annual business plans, and performance objectives across all shifts.
2. Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local environmental, occupational safety, fire prevention, and hazardous-material requirements, including OSHA, U.S. EPA, and Ohio EPA requirements. Monitor regulatory changes, determine applicability, and implement required actions.
3. Maintain and continually improve YNA's ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, including environmental aspects and impacts, compliance obligations, objectives and targets, document control, internal audits, management reviews, corrective actions, and certification activities.
4. Manage environmental permits, plans, records, inspections, and reporting related to air emissions, wastewater and stormwater, spill prevention, hazardous and non-hazardous waste, chemical inventory and reporting, recycling, and other applicable environmental obligations.
5. Conduct and coordinate routine plant inspections, job hazard analyses, risk assessments, ergonomic evaluations, and compliance audits. Prioritize findings, assign corrective actions, verify completion, and evaluate whether controls are effective.
6. Develop and maintain effective programs for lockout/tagout, machine guarding, electrical safety, powered industrial vehicles, confined spaces, fall protection, hot work, personal protective equipment, hazard communication, hearing conservation, respiratory protection, heat stress, molten-metal safety, and other site-specific hazards.
7. Partner with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, Human Resources, and other functions to integrate EHS requirements into new equipment, chemicals, processes, facility changes, capital projects, management-of-change reviews, and pre-startup safety reviews.
8. Lead investigations of injuries, illnesses, environmental releases, fires, property damage, near-misses, and safety concerns. Apply structured root-cause analysis, establish corrective and preventive actions, communicate lessons learned, and verify sustained completion.
9. Maintain accurate OSHA logs, incident files, environmental records, training records, permits, Safety Data Sheet systems, and other required documentation. Prepare timely regulatory, corporate, customer, and management reports.
10. Establish and track leading and lagging EHS performance indicators; analyze trends; communicate results to leadership and Associates; and present progress, risks, and recovery plans during monthly, quarterly, and annual business reviews.
11. Coordinate workers' compensation, injury case management, transitional-duty and return-to-work activities with Human Resources, medical providers, third-party administrators, the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation, and legal counsel, as appropriate.
12. Develop and manage an EHS training and competency program that includes new-hire orientation, job-specific and regulatory training, supervisor responsibilities, refresher training, emergency-response training, and complete training documentation.
13. Coordinate industrial hygiene and occupational-health activities, including exposure assessments for noise, heat, fumes, dusts, and chemicals; employee monitoring; medical surveillance; and implementation of engineering, administrative, and personal-protective controls.
14. Maintain emergency action, fire prevention, spill response, and related crisis-management plans. Coordinate drills, emergency-response resources, inspections, and communication with fire, medical, and other outside response agencies.
15. Manage contractor and visitor EHS requirements, including qualification, orientation, permit controls, work-area inspections, and corrective action. Oversee the selection and availability of appropriate safety equipment and supplies.
16. Lead safety and environmental committees and employee-engagement activities that strengthen hazard reporting, near-miss reporting, shared accountability, and a proactive EHS culture across all departments and shifts.
17. Serve as YNA's primary site contact for EHS regulatory agencies, auditors, customers, insurers, consultants, and industry organizations. Coordinate inspections and audits and ensure complete, timely responses to findings and commitments.
18. Support YNA and Yamada Group sustainability and decarbonization objectives by maintaining reliable energy, water, waste, recycling, and greenhouse-gas data and by helping identify and execute practical reduction projects.
19. Develop and administer the EHS operating and capital budget. Provide direction to assigned EHS personnel, contractors, consultants, and emergency-response resources, as applicable.
20. Perform other duties as assigned.
Other Functions:
1. Maintain regular and predictable attendance and sufficient plant-floor presence to support YNA's three-shift operation, including occasional off-shift or after-hours response.
2. Interact professionally with Associates, management, customers, vendors, contractors, government officials, medical providers, and community emergency-response organizations.
3. Handle injury, medical, investigation, and compliance information with appropriate confidentiality and sound judgment.
