Job description

Job Title: Work Comp Processor I - Underwriting Services

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Job Family: Underwriting

Department: Underwriting Services

Location: Corporate Office (Fort Wayne, IN)


JOB SUMMARY
Underwrite and process work comp audits including basic and simple multi-state audits. Process nonautomated work comp renewals and PCR’s.


POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Underwrite, process, and approve changes of audits for church/related ministry accounts that are of small to medium size, including simple multi-state, and/or easy to moderate complexity.
  • Accurately underwrite and process pro-rated, short rated, and final audits.
  • Identify and interpret payroll information submitted from various sources.
  • Collaborate with regional underwriters on basic employee classifications, experience modifications, and general audit questions.
  • Collaborate with finance to ensure accuracy of insureds audit invoices and bills.
  • Appropriately document all files so that other workers comp processors, underwriters, department and company management, and external auditors can identify and understand action taken with respect to audit information received from insureds.
  • Effectively prioritize, process, and manage workflows within the region to meet or exceed established service standards for agents and policyholders.
  • Answer agent inquiries regarding class codes and audit procedures submitted via email or phone.
  • Appropriately work non-automated work comp renewals and PCR’s.
  • Print and mail specifically requested audit forms.
  • Complete other projects as assigned.

  • Excellent math comprehension.
  • Must be able to effectively and professionally communicate both orally and in writing.
  • The ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer.
  • Knowledge of office practices and procedures.
  • Possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to learn and apply the rating and underwriting rules, guidelines and processes.
  • Effectively interface with external contacts, Brotherhood employees, managers, and department staff members.


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
List Degree Requirement, Years' Experience, and Certifications

  • Must have high school degree or equivalent.
  • Must have at least one year of general business or insurance experience.
  • Associate’s degree or CPCU, APA, AINS, AU or other relevant insurance designations is desired.
  • Previous work comp audit experience is desired.
