Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Analytics Data Engineer to join our Homes.com team to design and scale end-to-end data infrastructure, transforming raw data into high-quality datasets that power both internal insights and customer-facing product experiences. This role partners cross-functionally to define data strategy, build reliable pipelines, and deliver scalable BI solutions that enable self-service analytics and data-driven decision-making. The position also supports advanced data initiatives, including productionizing machine learning models and enhancing user experience through data-driven insights.

CoStar is investing heavily in artificial intelligence to accelerate software delivery, improve platform observability, automate research and business workflows, enhance product experiences through intelligent agents and skills, and improve data quality across enterprise systems. Successful candidates will demonstrate a willingness to learn, adopt, and apply AI technologies responsibly to solve complex business and engineering challenges.

This position is located in Arlington, VA and is in office Monday through Thursday and work from home on Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end design and deployment of automated data infrastructure - from defining initial data requirements and owning table/schema design to creating reliable, production data pipelines that power both internal analytics and customer-facing product experiences.
  • Work with product and software engineering teams to define tracking strategy and data requirements; design and build automated scripts using SQL or python to transform raw source data into datasets for use in front-end business products and for analysts across the company.
  • Develop and implement data quality and pipeline monitoring procedures to ensure accuracy and completeness of data, including validation rules, data audits, and resolution of data discrepancies.
  • Design warehouse architecture and infrastructure to support all business reporting needs. Design tables, schemas, and processes that efficiently compile datasets that support both analytical and front-end use cases.
  • Collaborate with product, marketing, and sales teams on projects to understand their data needs and provide them with the tools and resources they need to access and analyze data.
  • Lead business analysis in support of strategic business development - work with stakeholders to help them access, analyze, and interpret data and understand business implications.
  • Develop and maintain scalable BI solutions in Power BI, built on curated datasets and data models to enable self-service analytics and drive decision-making across product, marketing, and sales teams
  • Apply analytical and data science techniques to curate datasets and develop models that power the Homes.com front-end experience.
  • Partner with Data Science and Machine Learning teams to productionize models and scale advanced use cases, including applications of LLMs to synthesize user behavior and summarize engagement patterns.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited, not for profit, in-person university or college.
  • A track record of commitment to prior employers
  • 5+ years of experience with SQL, Python, PySpark, data warehousing, and business intelligence tools
  • 2+ years of experience with data engineering tools, pipeline creation and management
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms and data warehouse solutions such as AWS, Azure, Databricks, Snowflake, and Microsoft SQL Server
  • Experience working with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Looker, or PowerBI.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of AI technologies and hands-on experience leveraging AI tooling in development (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Gemini, Grok)
  • Strong written and verbal communication and stakeholder management skills
  • A track record of commitment to prior employers

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Google Analytics
  • Experience working with large consumer datasets to drive insights and create models
  • Experience working with product and tech teams
  • Familiarity with large language models (LLMs), prompt engineering, or agent-based architectures
  • Great analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to tackle complex technical challenges
  • Ability to understand technical challenges and complex designs, and communicate into simple business ideas, or solutions with senior management/stakeholders
  • Background in the residential or commercial real estate industry

The final salary or hourly rate offered for this role will fall within the range set forth below based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, geographic location, skills, and competencies.


Base Compensation: $128,000- 190,000 Annually
