The Business Operations team helps guide and articulate technology strategy and research, and is responsible for driving the day-to-day operation of the Product & Technology organization, including: project and portfolio management and tracking; organization-level capital, space, and resource management and allocation; process management; technical incident management; and our administrative and workplace experience support team.


As a member of a diverse and talented organization, the Senior Software Engineer crafts elegant and extensible tools, prototypes, and architectures for high-visibility and critical projects. The Business Operations team helps guide and articulate technology strategy and research and is responsible for driving the day-to-day operation of the Product & Technology organization, including: project and portfolio management and tracking; organization-level capital, space, and resource management and allocation; process management; technical incident management; and our administrative and workplace experience support team. 

This individual is responsible for direct technical contribution to projects within the team and assisting with ongoing investigations of technologies affecting Disney’s industries. Experience in the fields of native application development, API integration, user experience design, version control, and continuous integration is desired.

Responsibilities 

·      Design prototypes and tools supporting Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology

·      Responsible for researching best approaches and architectures to solve interesting and unique problems facing Disney’s businesses.

·      Identify elegant solutions to complex and unique problems

Basic Qualifications: 

·      A bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technical field

·      5+ years of experience in technical fields

·      Hands-on experience with machine learning methods and techniques

·      Experience building and maintaining production-grade software

·      Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools in a safe, responsible, and effective manner

·      Experience with effective API integration and design

·      Demonstrated ownership and responsibility of the development, implementation, and release of the software lifecycle

·      Experience with defensive application design and understanding of cybersecurity best practices

·      Excellent technical communication skills and attention to detail

·      Curiosity and a desire to learn

Preferred Qualifications:

·      Experience with audio/video processing and analysis

·      Experience with real-time updates and event-driven architectures

·      Hands-on experience with AWS services like Kinesis, Dynamo, ElastiCache, Lambda, S3, ECS, Aurora, and Bedrock

·      Experience with modern JavaScript/TypeScript development, including production use in back-end RESTful APIs and front-end web applications

·      Experience with native mobile application development for iOS (Swift) and/or Android (Kotlin)

·      Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform and CloudFormation

·      Experience with monitoring tools like CloudWatch and Datadog

·      Workflow implementation centered on real-time updates and event-driven architectures

The hiring range for this position in Seattle, WA is $148,700 to $199,400 per year and in Los Angeles, CA and Bristol, CT is $141,900 to $190,300 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
