Job description

Your work days are brighter here.

We're obsessed with making hard work pay off, for our people, our customers, and the world around us. As a Fortune 500 company and a leading AI platform for managing people, money, and agents, we're shaping the future of work so teams can reach their potential and focus on what matters most. The minute you join, you'll feel it. Not just in the products we build, but in how we show up for each other. Our culture is rooted in integrity, empathy, and shared enthusiasm. We're in this together, tackling big challenges with bold ideas and genuine care. We look for curious minds and courageous collaborators who bring sun-drenched optimism and drive. Whether you're building smarter solutions, supporting customers, or creating a space where everyone belongs, you'll do meaningful work with Workmates who've got your back. In return, we'll give you the trust to take risks, the tools to grow, the skills to develop and the support of a company invested in you for the long haul. So, if you want to inspire a brighter work day for everyone, including yourself, you've found a match in Workday, and we hope to be a match for you too.

About the Team

The Compliance & Integrity team (CIT) within Legal, Compliance, and Corporate Affairs (LCCA) exists to do the right thing for Workday - and to enable every Workmate and customer to do the same. We are trusted, proactive partners and the go-to team for protecting Workday, its customers, and sensitive data while enabling innovation and growth.
Our work spans Workday's core pillars of Responsible AI, integrity and ethics, and privacy and data protection. We anticipate integrity and compliance challenges rather than simply reacting to them, using self-service resources and scalable processes to stay ahead of regulatory trends and emerging risks. We believe that proactive risk mitigation speeds up innovation rather than slowing it down - making integrity a true differentiator for Workday.
What makes this team special is a culture built on trust, transparency, and collaboration. We operate as one unified, cross-disciplinary team of leaders, lawyers, and specialists who partner with the business, LCCA, and customers to amplify impact. We celebrate ethical decision-making, encourage speaking up, and are committed to making integrity a lived culture - not a check-the-box exercise.
The Privacy & Data Protection team within CIT manages Workday's global privacy compliance program and supports Workmates across the organization to ensure Workday is handling personal data in ways that are consistent with privacy requirements and our core values.

About the Role

Workday's Privacy & Data Protection Team is looking for a highly motivated senior program manager to support Workday's growing cross-functional privacy programs. The ideal candidate is a confident self-starter who can take on difficult problems, devise practical solutions, build strong relationships, and prioritize and handle multiple tasks and responsibilities with agility and efficiency.

Strong candidates will have a firm understanding of global privacy laws (GDPR, ePrivacy Directive, CCPA, CASL, etc.) and will have experience advising on a variety of general privacy and data protection issues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build relationships with numerous internal stakeholders to understand strategic needs and goals of the business

  • Develop and mature privacy and data protection programs such as data subject requests, privacy impact assessments and risk management

  • Identify privacy risks and implement practical mitigation strategies

  • Advise on requirements for use of new technologies

  • Draft clear and concise privacy statements and other public facing notices

  • Support internal processes and policies related to privacy and data protection

  • Draft and review internal privacy collateral and training materials to help raise privacy awareness across the organization

About You

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

  • 8+ years of experience in Privacy, Data Protection, Information Security, Compliance, Audit or Risk Management

Other Qualifications

  • IAPP CIPP Certification such as CIPP/E

  • Solid understanding of data protection laws and regulations in the U.S. and globally, including California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) and ePrivacy Directive

  • Experience with broader and emerging privacy and AI laws is also a plus

  • Familiarity with technology, with a focus on cloud computing, SaaS, cloud computing, enterprise software or social network environment.

  • Willing to take on new challenges and learn new technologies

  • Experience fulfilling data subject access requests including scoping and redaction

  • Experience developing, maturing, implementing, or maintaining processes

  • Experience with cookies and other tracking technologies

  • Experience with OneTrust privacy and risk modules

  • Experience with TRUSTe privacy assessments and certifications

  • Experience with ISO 27701 Privacy Information Management System (PIMS)

  • Experience with Data Privacy Framework (DPF) self-certification process

  • Critical thinker and problem solver with a solutions based approach

  • Excellent judgment and sense of humor

Our Approach to Flexible Work

With Flex Work, we're combining the best of both worlds: in-person time and remote. Our approach enables our teams to deepen connections, maintain a strong community, and do their best work. We know that flexibility can take shape in many ways, so rather than a number of required days in-office each week, we simply spend at least half (50%) of our time each quarter in the office or in the field with our customers, prospects, and partners (depending on role). This means you'll have the freedom to create a flexible schedule that caters to your business, team, and personal needs, while being intentional to make the most of time spent together. Those in our remote "home office" roles also have the opportunity to come together in our offices for important moments that matter.

Pursuant to applicable Fair Chance law, Workday will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.

Workday is an Equal Opportunity Employer including individuals with disabilities and protected veterans.

At Workday, we are committed to providing an accessible and inclusive hiring experience where all candidates can fully demonstrate their skills. If you require assistance or an accommodation at any point, please email accommodations@workday.com.
