About the Team

The Workday Extend Services team focuses on the implementation of custom agents, business and application extensions using the Workday Build platform. Extend Services sits within Workday's Technical Services organization, dedicated to helping customers leverage the Workday Build developer platform to seamlessly embed AI agents and Extend Applications directly into their core business.

About the Role

The Workday Extend Services Consultant designs, develops, and deploys custom AI agents and Workday Extend applications for customers. These solutions run alongside Workday's Human Resources, Financial Management, Student Information Systems and Delivered Agents, utilizing the Workday Agent System of Record for centralized governance, lifecycle management, and security.

We are looking for hardworking professionals with Workday or similar experience who are passionate about customer success, achieving deployment breakthroughs, delivering inspired applications and agents and love solving puzzles.

You will work directly with our customers to craft innovative agentic workflows and business solutions. You will lead discovery sessions to assemble requirements, define clear agent objectives, and establish necessary guardrails and escalation paths for AI actions. You will leverage Workday Developer Agent and MCP-compatible tools to select capabilities, find resources, and build extensions using natural language and code. You will build and review technical designs that are consistent, maintainable, flexible and efficient. You should excel at explaining complex concepts in simple terms and understanding customer procedures.

About You

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience with Workday HCM, Financials or Student domain experience is a MUST

  • 7+ years of experience with data migration, integration development, report building, or software development

  • 7+ years of experience with technical consulting, requirements gathering, or solution design

  • 3+ years of experience with Software Architecture & Design

  • Working knowledge of building custom AI agents and agentic apps directly on core systems.

  • Architectural understanding of defining decision scopes, prompt engineering, and orchestrating agents across multiple systems.

  • Demonstrated experience defining agent capabilities and integrating them over Model Context Protocol (MCP) or using Agent-Ready Tools.

  • Extensive knowledge of web service technologies (REST, SOAP, JSON, XML) and authentication and authorization methods (OAuth, JWT, WS-Security, SAML, X.509, etc.)

Other Qualifications

  • Excellent Presentation Skills and superb communication capability.

  • Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical teams

  • Strong understanding of AI agent governance, auditability, and monitoring outcomes.

  • A problem solver, with a passion for delivering outstanding levels of customer service

  • Ability to balance multiple projects with customer commitments simultaneously.

  • Experience implementing Platform-as-a-Service and/or custom web applications, including (ideally) implementing Workday solutions using Human Capital Management, Financial Management or Student Information Systems

  • Experience taking a leadership role within a software, system, or application implementation.

  • Advanced understanding of the complete software implementation lifecycle - including collecting requirements, design, development, testing, and move to production

Our Approach to Flexible Work

With Flex Work, we're combining the best of both worlds: in-person time and remote. Our approach enables our teams to deepen connections, maintain a strong community, and do their best work. We know that flexibility can take shape in many ways, so rather than a number of required days in-office each week, we simply spend at least half (50%) of our time each quarter in the office or in the field with our customers, prospects, and partners (depending on role). This means you'll have the freedom to create a flexible schedule that caters to your business, team, and personal needs, while being intentional to make the most of time spent together. Those in our remote "home office" roles also have the opportunity to come together in our offices for important moments that matter.

Pursuant to applicable Fair Chance law, Workday will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.

Workday is an Equal Opportunity Employer including individuals with disabilities and protected veterans.

Workday is committed to providing reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals during our application process, in order to perform one or more essential functions of their job, as well as regarding the use of AI tools for employment decision-making to any degree.
