About the Role

We are seeking a Workday Financials Specialist who brings a unique combination of hands-on accounting experience and deep Workday system expertise. This role sits at the intersection of finance and technology, serving as the primary subject matter expert for Workday Financial Management modules. You will partner closely with Accounting, FP&A, and IT teams to configure, support, and continuously improve our Workday Financials environment.


Key Responsibilities

System Administration & Support

  • Serve as the day-to-day administrator and subject matter expert for Workday Financials, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Procurement, Expenses, and Banking & Settlement
  • Manage system configuration, business process updates, and tenant maintenance
  • Troubleshoot and resolve end-user issues, escalating to Workday support when necessary
  • Monitor Workday release updates (twice yearly) and assess impact on financial processes; lead testing and adoption of new features

Accounting & Finance Partnership

  • Apply prior accounting knowledge to translate business requirements into effective Workday configurations and solutions
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring Workday financial data integrity and accurate reporting
  • Partner with Accounting and FP&A teams to design and maintain financial reports, dashboards, and worklets
  • Assist with reconciliation of Workday data to the general ledger and other financial systems

Projects & Implementation

  • Lead or support Workday Financials configuration projects, enhancements, and new module rollouts
  • Develop and maintain functional design documentation, test scripts, and training materials
  • Participate in data validation, UAT, and post-go-live support for system changes
  • Collaborate with HRIS and IT teams on integrations between Workday Financials and third-party systems (e.g., banking, procurement, tax)

Governance & Compliance

  • Maintain and enforce financial system controls, security roles, and audit compliance within Workday
  • Support internal and external audits by providing system documentation and data extracts
  • Ensure configurations adhere to GAAP, internal policy, and regulatory requirements


Required Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of hands-on Workday Financials configuration and administration experience
  • 2+ years of prior accounting or finance experience (e.g., Staff/Senior Accountant, Financial Analyst, or similar)
  • Proficiency in core Workday Financials modules: General Ledger, AP, AR, Procurement, and/or Expenses
  • Strong understanding of GAAP accounting principles and financial close processes
  • Experience writing and maintaining Workday financial reports (custom reports, composite reports, dashboards)
  • Ability to independently manage business process configuration and security role assignments
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
