General Description
Sort, deliver, and box mail and packages.
Essential Job Duties
1. Retrieve and deliver mail from and to the city post office.
2. Sort and prepare mail to put in PO Boxes.
3. Run campus mail route to select University offices; retrieving out-going and delivering in-coming mail.
4. Weigh and apply appropriate postage to out-going mail, daily.
5. Perform light cleaning and organizing duties in Post Office and mail delivery vehicle.
6. Sell stamps and be able to make change.
7. Make sure appropriate amount of stamps is applied to outgoing mail.
8. Distribute Post Office box combinations to new and returning students.
9. Help customers with mailboxes and mailing questions.
10. Sign for packages.
11. Distribute packages to correct recipients.
12. Reconcile stamp/cash drawer.
13. Perform light filing alphabetically and numerically.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
1. A drivers license with a good driving record is a plus.
2. Must have ability to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion.
3. Ability to briefly tolerate outdoor weather (i.e. rain, cold, heat, etc.).
4. Good customer service skills.
5. Ability to learn to operate postage meter.
6. Ability to work independently and stay on task and schedule.
7. Knowledge of basic postage procedures preferred.
8. Knowledge of University Departments and their locations preferred.
9. Ability to read and sort mail packages by department and box number.
10. Ability to follow Post Office procedures and make rational decisions.
