Job description

Position Summary:
Under the leadership of the Director, Nursing Home, the Supervisor, Nursing Home RN an active member of the department that collects data, provides comfort measures, and basic care residents. The Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that the care provided by the nursing staff is appropriate for the residents' developmental age and is culturally sensitive. Reviews the formulated plan for care, and analyzes the effectiveness of interventions and interactions with residents, family members and other health team members. Ensures that the standards of professional nursing are maintained in the delivery of all care.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Education:

Requires an associate's degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing
  • Experience:

Requires two to four years of work-related experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Licensure, Registrations & Certifications:

Requires a current state license as a Registered Nurse and is listed in good standing with the state's Department of Professional Credentialing.
Requires and maintains a current CPR certification.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
  • Supervises the assessment and documentation of resident's condition (i.e., physical, emotional, age, etc.) and the development of resident care plans.
  • Meets with other members of the resident care team to discuss, evaluate and monitor the care plan. Modifies the care plan, as appropriate, given changes in a resident's condition.
  • Oversees the delivery of professional nursing care.,
  • Reviews the use of professional judgment in treating residents and the modifications of resident treatment as appropriate.
  • Reviews the preparation of necessary equipment and instruments used by physician during examination and treatment.
  • Observes the nursing staff providing resident and family education and rehabilitation services to ensure that all explanations and instructions regarding treatments, procedures and nursing care plans are conducted professionally.
  • Ensures that the nursing staff visits with residents and their families in order to help them overcome emotional problems associated with health care condition.
  • Conducts regular rounds to assigned residents, alone and/or with physicians, observing and evaluating
  • residents' symptoms and reactions to treatments and medications. Determines progress and problems and takes corrective action as indicated or directed.
  • Ensures residents' records, charts, are up-to-date and that all pertinent information regarding the residents' conditions, medications given and treatments administered are communicated appropriately based on the residents' status.
  • Monitors Quality Assurance studies and ensures that Quality Assurance standards are integrated into resident care activities.
  • Discusses with staff the proposed discharge plans to ensure that the resident and their family is prepared for discharge.
  • Provides oversight and clinical leadership in implementing nursing concepts, conducting resident conferences, and mentoring student nurses, Nursing Assistants, LPNs and other ancillary personnel.
  • Oversees the control of narcotics, drugs and supplies used in the delivery of care, and reviews inventory counts of all controlled substances.
  • Remains current on innovations, developments, new procedures and techniques in nursing care in order to provide quality nursing care services.
  • Assumes responsibility for safety, infection control and performance improvement as part of CRHS's efforts to provide quality care and services, and performs all associated duties, responsibilities and tasks.
  • Presents a professional image to CRHS's nursing co-workers, clinical and medical staff members, residents, families and visitors.
  • Attends and conducts professional development programs and in-service training and meets the minimum requirement for continuing professional education.
  • Performs other related job duties as assigned to assure resident safety.
