POSITION: Social Studies Teacher SCHOOL: Middle School Responsibilities will include:- Teach middle school social studies courses in alignment with district curriculum and Connecticut standards
- Develop and deliver engaging lessons that promote historical thinking, civic engagement, inquiry, analysis, and effective communication skills
- Utilize primary and secondary sources, discussion, writing, and project-based learning to deepen student understanding of historical and contemporary issues
- Differentiate instruction to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of diverse learners
- Assess student learning and provide timely, meaningful feedback to students and families
- Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom culture that values diverse perspectives and civil discourse
QUALIFICATIONS:Valid Connecticut Certification: 026 History and Social Studies (Grades 7 12) required or NY equivalent to work toward certification reciprocity.
- Strong knowledge of secondary social studies curriculum, instructional strategies, and assessment practices
- Knowledge of civics, history, geography, economics, and inquiry-based instructional practices
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
SALARY: Per NFEA Contract
