Job description

The North Georgia YMCA is seeking a Certified Teacher to join our After School team! The Certified Teacher will provide after-school services focused on student learning and development, academic enrichment, homework help, mentoring, and more. This is a rewarding opportunity to help children in your area. We are looking for someone with experience in the education field to come and help us create a fun, exciting, and safe place for Rossville Elementary Schoolers to learn. Shifts for this part time position are Monday-Friday 3pm-5pm each day school is in session.

RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Design and implement daily lesson/activity plans within established Georgia Department of Education guidelines
  • Make education and learning relevant/relatable
  • Teach and evaluate academic lessons
  • Ensure the children's safety
  • Provide individual and group education
  • Help students develop positive attitudes toward learning and studying
  • Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child
  • Maintain positive relationships and effective communication with parents/guardians
  • Engage parents as volunteers at home
  • Maintain program site and equipment
  • Maintain required program records
  • Monitor and engages in educational activities
  • Attend and participate in other program activities, staff meetings, and staff training
  • Handle emergencies as they occur
  • Develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current teaching certification required
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Previous experience working with children in an academic setting required
  • Previous experience with diverse populations preferred

TRAINING UPON HIRE:

  • CPR, First Aid, AED certifications required within 30 days of hire
  • New Employee Orientation within one week of hire

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to plan, lead and participate in activities in both indoor and outdoor settings.

Ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel, stoop and lift.
