The private equity associates who build toward partnership are the ones with range across the full sponsor lifecycle — buyouts, growth equity, recaps, exits — not the ones boxed into a single deal type.
An elite firm with a top-tier private equity practice is hiring a senior PE associate (5–6 years) in New York. Cravath scale — $365K–$390K depending on class year.
This is a broad sponsor-side mandate where you manage components of deals independently — the kind of range and autonomy that builds a portable practice.
The work includes:
- M&A and leveraged buyouts for private equity sponsors
- Leveraged recapitalizations and growth equity transactions
- Venture capital investments and portfolio company matters
- Exits and equity compensation arrangements
What you bring:
- 5–6 years of private equity and corporate transactional experience
- A track record managing deal components independently, not just as part of a team
- Real range across M&A, growth equity, VC, recaps, and exits
- Strong business sense and the ability to manage client and counsel relationships
- New York bar admission (or eligibility to obtain promptly)
What you get:
- A broad sponsor-side PE mandate across the full investment lifecycle
- Real deal-management autonomy at a senior level — the kind that builds toward partnership
- Cravath scale ($365K–$390K depending on class year)
