Job description

Job Description Alabama State University, Division of Student Affairs, invites applications to fill the position of Registered Nurse. The selected candidate will assist with planning, delegating, organizing and execution of the various activities and services pertaining to health care for the university population. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides patient care, and carries out the University Provider's orders in compliance with established policies, procedures and protocol Provides nursing care limited to licensed scope of practice; documentation utilizing Subjective, Objective, Assessment, Plan (SOAP) notes, takes steps to notify university physician of patient conditions when indicated Supervises the CNA, administrative secretary, work-study students, and other support personnel Trains new staff Assists the director in planning coordinating, implementing, and evaluating all educational activities/programs related to health awareness Holds responsibility for support groups for student with physical disorders such as asthma, diabetes, and sickle cell anemia; develops goals and objectives, implements support programs, and maintains participant rosters and reports of meetings Attends workshop and seminars designed to enhance professional growth Assists students with the university insurance matters Compiles information from files, records, publications and other sources, and tabulates information in accordance with standardized report forms and assessment reports Prepares reports and submits results of activities to the director Delegates tasks to other office staff as appropriate Collaborates with students who have identified themselves as having physical disabilities Presents and promotes a positive and professional approach in work related activities Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications A current State of Alabama Registered Nurse's License, 2 years of nursing experience, working knowledge of related computer programs and software, working knowledge of nursing processes and practices, and must have excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
