Job description

National Fuel is seeking an Engineer for an outstanding career opportunity in our Engineering Services department to support our growing operations in the Dayton, Ohio area as part of our upcoming acquisition of CenterPoint Energy. This position will begin remotely during the acquisition transition and will transition to primarily on-site support in the Dayton area following close.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Evaluation and design of natural gas piping systems and related facilities including use of gas hydraulic modeling software
  • Provide technical support to Field Operations and other corporate departments
  • Provide material and equipment specifications for natural gas facility improvement projects
  • Bid preparation, project cost estimating and engineering support for construction
  • Review, approve, and provide required support documentation for expenditure requests
  • Investigate, document, and resolve system delivery reliability issues
  • Coordinate and facilitate the spring and fall Operations/Engineering planning meetings
  • Participate as a member on various corporate technical standards teams and/or department initiatives
  • Support Distribution modernization and public improvement projects including feasibility studies, engineering analyses, and scoping of natural gas facility projects
  • Maintain system updates for Synergi Gas hydraulic modeling software, perform system studies, assisting engineers, and responding to various engineering requests
  • Provide support for state regulatory audits, data requests and rate performance metrics
  • Coordinate large volume customer requests with the Energy Services department
  • Coordinate bi-annual planning meetings with Gas Supply Administration and GCOC; as well as data requests from various departments and audits
  • Support department initiatives
  • Use and support of Distribution Risk Application

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, or Petroleum and Natural Gas preferred)
  • Ability to successfully work independently as well as within a team environment
  • Exceptional time management, work ethic and multi-tasking abilities
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, proven technical abilities and strong computer skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 3-5+ years of relevant Engineering Experience
  • Gas System modeling and natural gas piping design experience
  • EIT or Professional Engineer Certification
