Job description

Description:

The Stephens College Library has openings for Federal Work Study eligible students. Library Desk Assistants will work at the library service desk primarily on weekday evenings and on Sundays. Job responsibilities include the following, and training will be provided: 

  • Facilitate circulation transactions for students, faculty, and staff using Folio, the library’s integrated software platform.
  • Effectively explain circulation policies and other library rules and regulations to students, faculty, and staff, as needed.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve computer and printer problems as brought forward by students using library computers.
  • Engage with library staff and student workers using effective interpersonal and written communication to support a cohesive work environment.
  • Ensure a positive experience for all library patrons by providing courteous and approachable support to students, faculty, and staff.
  • Demonstrate punctuality, reliability, and adherence to workplace expectations.
  • Oversee and be responsible for a clean and organized library environment by performing routine tasks such as straightening books, wiping down tables, aligning chairs, replenishing paper in copy machines, and completing other daily upkeep duties.
  • Collaborate with library staff to support end-of-day operations, including assisting with closing procedures.
  • Participate in specialized tasks such as digitizing archival content and servicing audiovisual equipment.
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy through careful attention to detail in all tasks and responsibilities.
