rockITdata is seeking a Senior Technical Writer/Editor to join our team. The Senior Technical Writer/Editor is responsible for creating, editing, and refining technical and graphical documentation to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency. This role reviews documents for grammar, formatting, logical flow, and technical accuracy while identifying inconsistencies that require author review.

The ideal candidate has experience using word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, and scheduling software to produce high-quality deliverables. They collaborate closely with authors and cross-functional teams to gather feedback, reconcile comments, and deliver polished, publication-ready documentation. The successful candidate is also skilled at translating complex scientific and technical concepts into clear, concise language that is easily understood by a broad audience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create, edit, and maintain technical, scientific, and graphical documentation for a variety of audiences.
  • Review documents for grammar, formatting, clarity, consistency, and logical accuracy.
  • Identify technical inconsistencies and collaborate with authors to resolve issues before publication.
  • Translate complex technical and scientific concepts into clear, concise, and easy-to-understand content.
  • Coordinate with subject matter experts, authors, and project teams to gather, review, and incorporate feedback.
  • Compile, reconcile, and resolve document comments from multiple reviewers to produce publication-ready deliverables.
  • Develop and maintain user guides, technical manuals, reports, presentations, and other supporting documentation.
  • Utilize word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, and scheduling software to produce high-quality documentation.
  • Ensure all documentation complies with organizational, customer, and quality standards.
  • Manage multiple documentation projects while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or another engineering or technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant technical writing and editing experience.
  • An additional 8 years of directly related experience may be substituted for the required degree.
  • Demonstrated experience editing technical and graphical documentation for grammar, formatting, logical flow, and accuracy.
  • Proven ability to translate complex scientific and technical concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation.
  • Experience collaborating with authors, subject matter experts, and cross-functional teams to develop and publish high-quality documentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, and scheduling tools.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust
