Responsibilities

SCOPE:

Supervises day-to-day revenue cycle operations and staff in order to maximize the collection of medical services payments and reimbursements from patients, insurance carriers, financial aid, and guarantors. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include Code of Ethics and Business Standards, and US Oncology's Shared Values.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supervises daily business functions of the patient visit from point of entry to accurate adjudication of accounts. Scope includes appointment scheduling, insurance eligibility verification, charge processing, claim submission and processing, payment posting, collections and accounts receivable management, denial management, reporting and analysis, auditing, proper coding, credentialing, customer service related to revenue cycle, training and development, analytics, and all other revenue cycle management activities. Resolves escalated and unique revenue cycle issues.

  • Ensures quality work, meeting deadlines, and adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs); regularly audits staff work for compliance.

  • Prepares monthly revenue cycle financial analysis, including aged accounts. Monitors and assesses business metrics to refine processes and improve efficiencies. Guides individuals and teams toward priorities; clarifies roles and responsibilities; coordinates resources to meet objectives. Cascades goals down to staff’s annual objectives.

  • Champions new initiatives; acts as a catalyst for change and manages implementation effectively. Addresses difficult issues, takes ownership, and drives accountability.

  • Develops, implements, and maintains revenue cycle training materials. Conducts training on SOPs, systems, metrics, and regulatory requirements.

  • Coordinates front office duties, including scheduling, check-in, and co-pay/co-insurance collection.

  • Attracts and develops high-caliber staff; assesses strengths and development needs; provides feedback and coaching; assigns challenging opportunities for growth. Responsible for interviewing, hiring recommendations, performance assessments, salary changes, and disciplinary actions. Enforces adherence to company policies.

  • Other duties as requested or assigned.

 
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate degree in Finance, Business, or equivalent OR four years of revenue cycle experience required.

  • At least four (4) years of medical revenue cycle work experience with a consistent track record of achieving metrics.

  • Two years of experience managing, delegating, and following up on work priorities strongly desired.

  • Strong knowledge of medical insurance billing and collections with CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding and medical terminology, as well as an understanding of managed care products (HMO, PPO, etc.).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and Athena.

Work is performed in a home office environment and involves online interaction with co-workers, management, and/or clients. Work may require minimal travel within the United States.
