Description:
Provide instructional and employment training support to the Service Careers Instructor in training students with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in classroom and lab settings, specifically in the area of food service.
Essential Functions:
  1. Assist with promoting individualized support for theory and skill instruction in the classroom, lab, and/or work-based learning sites.
  2. Communicate effectively with instructor, family members, work-based learning sites, school and agency personnel, as it relates to the student being trained.
  3. Assist with completing assessments to determine appropriate work-based learning placement.
  4. Carry out steps of job coaching plan with students and other parties as appropriate.
  5. Coordinate required program documentation and mandatory records for Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services (OKDRS) compliance. Supervise Skills Trainer assigned to the program.
  6. Practice positive reinforcement techniques and model in the areas of grooming, hygiene, communication, interviewing and behavior as related to successful employment.
  7. Monitor and provide instruction in a safe working environment.
  8. Assist in monitoring/supervision of student behavior, performance, progress, attendance in the classroom, lab and work-based learning sites.
  9. Assist instructor in completing, organizing paperwork and submitting reports.
  10. Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.

Job Requirements:
  • This position requires three (3) years of recent experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
  • ServSafe Manager Certification (within the first semester); renew every 5 years.
  • ServSafe Instructor/Exam Proctor (within the first semester); renew every 3 years.
  • This position requires working with commercial kitchen equipment - Sharp knives, hot stoves and standard culinary equipment. It also involves the use of cleaning and sanitizing chemicals.

Education:
Minimum of High School Diploma is required.
Salary Schedule:
Standard rate schedule for non-regular (temporary, adjunct, substitute) and regular part-time employees.
Hiring Range:
$17 per hour
