Position Title: Work-Based Learning Coordinator
Employment Classification: Full Time, Exempt, Classified
Reports to: Director of Development
Position Summary:
Samueli Academy is seeking a full-time, dynamic and results-driven Work-Based Learning Coordinator (WBLC) to provide strategic support to the overall Career and College Readiness of our students. As a member of the Development Department, the WBLC will build and manage relationships with businesses, industry professionals, community organizations, and other external partners to expand opportunities such as internships, career tours, and other work-based learning experiences. The WBLC will provide enhanced educational opportunities for students by developing business and community partnerships resulting in work-based learning opportunities such as internships, job-shadowing, industry tours, career workshops and more. Requires the ability to successfully maintain positive relationships with students, staff, community partners, and parents/caregivers.
Major Areas of Responsibility:
  • Develop, cultivate, and maintain strong relationships with businesses, industry professionals, community organizations, alumni, and other external partners to expand meaningful work-based learning opportunities for Samueli Academy students.
  • Identify, recruit, and maintain partnerships with businesses, industry professionals, and community organizations to coordinate and provide meaningful work-based learning opportunities for students, including career tours, workshops, internships, and other career-connected learning experiences across a variety of industries and career pathways.
  • Lead the planning and execution of Samueli Academy's two annual Career Ignition Conferences and four career exploration tours, including developing programming, recruiting and coordinating speakers and industry professionals, securing tour sites, managing logistics, and ensuring meaningful experiences for students.
  • Develop and manage the school's internship partner network, including recruiting internship hosts, coordinating placements, communicating expectations and requirements, and supporting students and partners throughout the internship experience.
  • Prepare and support students for successful participation in work-based learning opportunities by developing resumes and cover letters, preparing for interviews, providing guidance on professional dress and workplace expectations, and building essential hard and soft skills.
  • Collaborate with faculty, counselors, administrators, and other school staff to integrate work-based learning opportunities with classroom instruction, career pathways, and college and career readiness programming.
  • Track and report on work-based learning partnerships, student participation, internship placements, program activities, and outcomes to evaluate effectiveness and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Represent Samueli Academy at business, community, and networking events to increase awareness of the school and expand its network of industry and community partners.
  • Collaborate with the Development Department to identify opportunities to deepen relationships with business and community partners and engage partners in the broader Samueli Academy community.
  • Create and lead a Business Advisory Council of community and industry members to expand the Work-Based Learning program's network and help identify and secure new partners and opportunities for students.
  • Communicate program expectations and maintain consistent, positive communication with students, families, staff, and external partners to ensure successful work-based learning experiences.
  • Promote the Work-Based Learning program through school communications, publications, social media, networking, and other outreach efforts, and continuously evaluate and improve the program to increase student participation and the quality and quantity of career-connected learning opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Knowledge, Skill, and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Experience networking in the community, including public presentations.
  • Experience coordinating high levels of detail, timelines, and relationship management.
  • Proficient in word processing and databases (excel, sheets, etc.)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Comfortable presenting in community settings.
  • Bilingual Spanish-English preferred
  • Possess a valid California driver's license and proof of automobile insurance. Position requires DMV clearance.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background screening, FBI/DOJ fingerprinting, TB test and drug test.

Working Environment/Physical Requirements:

  • Modification to work schedule may be made based on need of the Academy.
