Spring Meadow Nursery is seeking a motivated and organized professional to join our Construction, Facilities, and Project Management team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the continued growth and expansion of our nursery while helping maintain the infrastructure that supports our operations. In this role, you will assist in managing multiple projects simultaneously, helping ensure they are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Responsibilities include supporting project planning and administration, monitoring budgets and timelines, coordinating internal teams and outside contractors, overseeing quality assurance, and ensuring the efficient integration of project activities. You will collaborate with departments across the organization to support operational needs, maintain our facilities, and contribute to the long-term success and growth of Spring Meadow Nursery. The Assistant Manager - Construction will support the advancement of nursery projects and overall nursery facility goals. A qualified candidate will possess leadership and organization skills to assist with company expansion as well as maintenance. The purpose of this job is to assist the project manager with managing multiple projects, including quality assurance, timely completion, efficient integration, project budgets, and administration of the various stages of design and construction projects. This individual will work directly with the Project Manager, Construction crew leaders, and Sub-Contractors to assist in coordinating all functions of nursery construction and maintenance from pre-construction through closeout of projects.

 
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Assist Project Manager with inspections, site visits, and design changes
  • Assist in the design process for each project
  • Communicate effectively with Construction Team and Subcontractors
  • Perform take-off of material quantities to generate project estimates
  • Review quotations based on cost and completeness of scope
  • Update, manage, and distribute drawings and specifications to all parties needed
  • Oversee all phases of the installation process and report status responsible for ensuring completion of all required inspections
  • Manage and resolve conflicts regarding scope and/or cost throughout the project
  • Perform site visits and attend site meetings
  • Report project status, update schedule, and monitor subcontractor compliance
  • Meets regularly with the Construction Manager to review the progress of each assigned project and to discuss and resolve outstanding problems or issues, as needed
  • Manage close out process including punch-list, as-built drawings, and documentation in a timely manner
  • Protect the interests of the owner and cultivate a positive relationship with other departments and subcontractors

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 Years of residential or commercial construction experience
  • Must know how to read plans and specifications
  • Knowledge of construction practices and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with emphasis on Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Proven leadership and organization experience
  • Self-motivated person with drive to improve existing structure
  • Must possess the ability to lift, carry, or otherwise move 30 pounds
  • Bilingual English-Spanish skills are highly desirable
 
Performance Requirements:
  • Must maintain a level of performance equivalent to company standards, that being a “Meets Expectations” in all areas of your performance evaluations (including but not limited to, Self and Management reviews).

Job Type: Full time, salary (exempt). 
Pay: starting at $45,000 per year, dependent upon experience. Amount is not inclusive of total compensation package.
