What is a WordPress agency?

A WordPress agency is a specialized company that focuses on creating, designing, developing, and maintaining websites using the WordPress content management system. These agencies typically offer a range of services such as custom theme development, plugin integration, website optimization, security, support, and ongoing maintenance. WordPress agencies serve clients of all sizes, from small businesses to large enterprises, helping them build professional and functional online presences tailored to their specific needs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive at a WordPress agency?

To thrive at a WordPress agency, you need strong skills in web development, particularly with PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and a solid understanding of the WordPress CMS. Familiarity with tools like Git, popular page builders, and experience with plugins and themes, as well as certifications in web development or WordPress, are highly valued. Job description

Part-Time WordPress Developer (Contract-to-Hire)

About Gemini

Gemini Agency is a performance-driven marketing firm based in the Twin Cities, helping businesses grow smarter through data, strategy, and measurable results. For more than 30 years, we’ve built our reputation on trust, creativity, and hands-on collaboration.

We’re looking for a Part-Time WordPress Developer to support our growing portfolio of client websites. This is a contract-to-hire role, ideal for a developer who’s confident in their craft, enjoys solving problems, and wants to grow into a long-term role with a forward-thinking local agency.

At Gemini, we value curiosity and initiative. We’re looking for someone who not only knows WordPress inside and out but also keeps an eye on where web technology and search behaviors are headed, someone who anticipates change, embraces new tools, and helps our clients stay ahead of the curve.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage daily website maintenance including plugin and theme updates, performance optimization, and security monitoring
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues quickly and efficiently
  • Collaborate with internal teams to implement content updates, design enhancements, and functionality improvements
  • Support occasional new site builds and landing page development
  • Maintain hosting, DNS, and documentation for client sites

What We’re Looking For

  • 4-5 years of professional WordPress development experience
  • Strong proficiency in PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Experience with custom themes, plugins, and site performance tools
  • Familiarity with hosting environments such as WP Engine, GoDaddy, or similar
  • Excellent communication, attention to detail, and reliability
  • Local to the Twin Cities metro area (hybrid schedule: 2–3 days in office)

Why You’ll Love Working With Gemini

  • Flexible part-time schedule (10–20 hours per week to start)
  • Contract-to-hire pathway with long-term growth potential
  • Collaborative, supportive culture that values innovation and craftsmanship
  • Competitive hourly pay with room to grow into a full-time role with benefits

Ready to build websites that perform today and evolve for tomorrow?
Apply today to join Gemini Agency, where your WordPress expertise helps shape the future of how businesses grow online.
