Job description

Carolina Wasteis looking for an experienced Dispatcher to join our residential team at our hauling location in North Charleston, SC.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work in conjunction with other departments to resolve customer disputes & demonstrate the ability to become proficient in the use of proprietary operational systems.

  • Analyzing and resolving customer inquiries for missed pick-ups, misplaced containers and property damage.

  • Assisting driver(s) when a pickup or delivery is in question before servicing.

  • Scheduling and dispatching work to various employees and departments throughout the day.

  • Demonstrate effective use of software applications, at a minimum MS Word and Excel proficiency.

  • Assist in covering other lines of business when needed.

  • Deliver services to customers in a manner that promotes goodwill. Interacts with customers daily.

  • Work in a fast paced, cooperative, high call volume environment. Solicit sale of new or additional services.

  • Works collaboratively with supervisors - ensuring all routes are running as scheduled, adjusting routes for call outs, assisting in creating maps for swing drivers.

  • Coordinating missed pickups and emergency pickups.

  • Responding to internal and external customers in a timely manner.

  • Maintain appropriate disposal log.

  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • 2 years of Dispatcher experience in a transportation or logistics atmosphere preferred.

  • Excellent organization and communication skills, both orally and written.

  • Ability to multitask.

  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

  • Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred

  • Physical ability: Able to complete sedentary work requiring prolonged sitting, able to complete repetitive motions such as typing/mouse use/operating a phone, ability to look at a screen for long periods of time, tolerate exposure to typical call center sounds and wearing a headset.
