Job description

ASRC Communications, Ltd (ASRCC) is seeking a Senior Facilities Engineer for our Installation Support Services for Geographically Separated Locations (ISS2-GSL) contract supporting our United States Air Force (USAF) customer. ASRC Federal provides a wide range of remote location operations and maintenance services, including site operations management, facilities management, infrastructure maintenance, fire protection, supply chain logistics, dining and billeting services, communications, security, and aircraft refueling.

These services are provided in geographically dispersed locations, including Eareckson Air Station, King Salmon Airport and Wake Island Airfield.

This position is located at the ASRCC Project Headquarters in Anchorage, Alaska, with periodic travel to our 3 remote sites. It plays a vital role in providing mission-critical operations and maintenance services in remote locations to support these sites, facilities, equipment, and infrastructure, helping the USAF protect and defend the United States, its territories, and our allies and partners.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

Lead projects for the major repair, modification, replacement or new installations of real property and government-furnished equipment.

Evaluate facilities, systems, and infrastructure for deficiencies and prepare government work requests to correct the deficiencies.

Prepare scope of work and labor and materials estimates to support requests for government funding.

Write requests for proposals and assist with the solicitation and evaluation of subcontractor bids.

Prepare equipment and materials requisitions and assist procurement personnel with purchasing.

Work closely with site personnel and subcontractors to ensure coordinated project activities and timely completions.

Ensure all work complies with applicable local, state, national and USAF codes and standards.

Provided technical support and guidance to site personnel and installation crews.

Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues in collaboration with site personnel.

Perform facility condition assessments and prepare reports.

Assist site personnel with the selection of equipment.

Assist with the preparation of operation, maintenance, and inspection procedures. Maintain detailed records of projects, including blueprints and project documentation.

Periodic travel to remote sites up to 25% of position time with durations of 1 day to 2.5 weeks, regardless of the time of year. Must be able to travel in small aircraft and be prepared to remain overnight for extended periods of time.

Other applicable duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Must have a thorough understanding of mechanical and/or electrical engineering, design, and construction as it applies to equipment, facilities, infrastructure, and the built environment.

Knowledge of other engineering disciplines and construction trades, including architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, lighting, food service, plumbing, power generation, water/wastewater, carpentry, fire protection, controls, fuels storage and distribution, HVAC, and refrigeration.

Must have strong technical problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.

Experience with applying applicable local, state, national, and USAF codes and standards.

Knowledge of relevant regulations, policies, procedures, and strategies to ensure adherence to environment and safety standards, including occupational hazards and safety precautions, industry standard practices, and procedures involved in building and modernization efforts.

Ability to plan, develop, and monitor construction project budgets and direct work activities.

Must have the ability to communicate in the English language, both verbally and in writing, in an effective manner.

Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, integrity, respect for confidentiality, sound judgment, and decision-making skills.

Must have strong technical writing skills.

Ability to read technical drawings and write specifications as they pertain to procurement of materials, supplies, and equipment.

Ability to perform computer and technology functions with proficiency, specifically in word processing, video conferencing, database and spreadsheet programs.

Required Qualifications:

Accredited four-year bachelorโ€™s degree in mechanical or engineering or adequate experience in other professions or trades to perform the required duties.

Permanent residence within 60 miles of midtown Anchorage.

Minimum of two (2) years facilities engineering and maintenance management.

Minimum of five (5) years progressive experience in mechanical or electrical engineering or adequate experience in other professions or trades to perform the required duties.

Must be willing to travel 25% out of the year to remote sites.ย 

Must pass a background check, drug screening, fingerprints, and a fit-for-dutyย physical exam; candidates must be medically cleared for long-term residency in a remote location with limited access to healthcare.

Must be able to obtain SECRET clearance.

Must hold and maintain a valid driverโ€™s license with acceptable driving history.

Preferred Qualifications:

Mechanical or electrical professional engineer (PE) registration.

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

Design and/or construction project management experience.

Experience working at remote locations in austere environments.
