Job description

Position Overview:

The Equipment Operator will work as part of a team to provide superior service and stakeholder satisfaction through responsibility for the safe and efficient operation and preservation of equipment utilized for the purpose of tasks related to Glycol Recovery Vehicles and processing, while ensuring the well-being of self and all internal and external stakeholders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Including but not limited to):
  • Follow established guidelines for equipment operation within close proximity to airfield personnel, aircraft and other airfield equipment without interfering with aircraft movement;
  • Promptly collect spent ADF avoiding the risk of fluid escape;
  • Proper operation and maintenance of testing equipment;
  • Monitor glycol processing equipment units to assure optimum production and efficiency;
  • Maintain glycol processing equipment as per Inland's maintenance manuals and SOP's in order to perform any and all maintenance functions as directed by management;
  • Perform product quality testing and ensure accurate reporting and accounting;
  • Perform water quality testing and reporting in relation to SOP's;
  • Compliance with all environmental laws and permits;
  • Perform quality assurance sampling of all production processes at regular intervals during shifts, by using correct sampling protocol as established by Inland SOP's and to ensure that all samples are compliant with all written company and Government rules and regulations;
  • Abide by Health and Safety principles by using issued and available safety equipment as required by SOP's in the day-by-day operations of the facility;
  • Keep all Inland owned or managed equipment, tools and materials in good working condition; including keeping the aforementioned clean and in their assigned storage areas when not in use;
  • Complete timely repairs, such as replacing parts, blowers, plumbing new lines and re-plumbing old lines, installing valves, meters, sensors, etc.;
  • Work cooperatively with airport authority and outside contractor(s) while representing yourself in the best image for the company;
  • Escort non-security badge holding personnel in accordance with airport written escorting procedures;
  • Ensure that the processing equipment and associated recycling equipment are continually inspected and maintained in proactive manner;
  • Perform truck transfer operations which include both loading and unloading of tankers, and transfers of fluid between tanks;
  • Assist in glycol recovery operations;
  • Diligently execute any and all other job-related duties assigned by management.
Required Skills and Experience:
  • Must be willing to get 5th Class Power Engineer Certificate (Inland will cover the cost)
  • Must be at least 18 years old;
  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • Successful completion of all classroom and on-the-job training;
  • Intermediate computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Ability to read, write, speak and communicate effectively in English;
  • Ability to interpret documents including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals;
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals;
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent;
  • Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations;
  • Ability to safely operate a motorized vehicle in inclement weather;
  • Basic knowledge of aircraft and how they perform;
  • General mechanical competence and ability to effectively use hand tools;
  • Driving record that meets Company insurance standards; Ability to maintain a positive, good-natured attitude;
  • Ability to remain calm and perform under pressure and within fixed time constraints.
Certifications/Licenses:
  • Valid driver's license.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment:
  • Office environment with potential for remaining seated extended periods of time;
  • Continuous use of a computer, keyboard, and mouse;
  • Warehouse - physically strenuous, prolonged periods of time standing with exposure to noise (may be excessive at times), safe but potentially unpleasant odors, varying temperatures and humidity, in and around heavy moving equipment;
  • Outdoor - prolonged periods of time standing with exposure to prevalent weather, dust, dirt, fuel, fumes and noise, in or around heavy equipment and moving vehicles.
Physical Demands:
  • The position involves sitting and standing for extended periods of time as well as bending, kneeling, climbing, using hands to control tools and feel objects, reaching with hands and arms;
  • May be necessary to work at heights up to 40 feet;
  • The ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
  • The schedule will be agreed upon with the Manager and/or Supervisor upon hire.
Travel:
  • No travel is anticipated in this position.
Security Clearance:
  • The ability to continue to hold Transportation Security Clearance and a Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC);
  • Ability to obtain and maintain all security clearances required by Transport Canada or TSA and/or local Airport Authorities;
  • Ability to pass pre-employment background screenings.
