Primary Purpose:
Research, order and distribute instructional software for curriculum initiative, replacements, basic book and growth
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Certifiable by the Texas Education Agency in the area assigned

Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Ability to use software such as word processing, spreadsheet, and database
  • Ability to use the Internet for research
  • Proficient skills in typing, word processing, and file maintenance
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic math skills
  • Willingness to execute written employment contract with Plano ISD

Experience:
  • One to three years of secretarial experience with purchasing responsibilities, preferably in a public education environment

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Responsible for all pricing, ordering, shipping, and delivery of instructional software and peripherals
  • Troubleshoot any and all problems that occur during shipping and delivery
  • Communicate with curriculum coordinators, campus technology assistants, and vendors on software as needed.
  • Locate approved vendors and request quotes
  • Prepare distribution procedures for software and peripheral orders to schools
  • Assist in preparation and updating of the software section of the online Technology catalog regarding pricing, availability, and vendor
  • Maintain spreadsheet on each initiative, listing site, purchase order number and cost
  • Maintain database on all purchase orders for software and peripherals
  • Log all tested software information into the district database
  • Work with instructional technology group on curriculum initiatives as it relates to researching, ordering and delivery of software and peripherals
  • Maintain files on vendors approved under the General Services Commission for special pricing
  • Maintain manual for vendors that fall under sole-source purchasing
  • Maintain files on software license agreements, legal agreements, warranties and bids
  • Coordinate purchasing strategies with the Telecommunications and Special Projects department Acquisition Officer as appropriate
  • Be aware of and comply with state, district, and school policies and regulations concerning primary job functions
  • Follow all rules, regulations, and policies of Plano ISD and follow directives from superiors
  • Follow attendance policy as assigned by supervisor
  • Perform other functions that may be assigned by the Administration and/or supervisor
