Job description

Overview

Steuben Foods is seeking an experienced SAP Business Solution Architect to lead the design and architecture of our SAP S/4HANA implementation.

This role will be responsible for ensuring that SAP is designed as an integrated, scalable solution aligned to Steuben’s manufacturing, supply chain, finance, and commercial operations. The ideal candidate will serve as the bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, translating operational needs into a cohesive SAP architecture.

This is a hands-on role for someone who can operate both strategically and tactically - defining the blueprint while ensuring strong execution throughout the implementation lifecycle.

This role is based onsite in Elma, NY. Candidates must be willing to relocate and work onsite to support close collaboration with business and plant operations. Relocation assistance is provided.

Key Responsibilities

SAP Solution Architecture and Design

  • Lead end-to-end SAP S/4HANA solution architecture across core modules including FI/CO, MM, PP, and SD
  • Define and maintain the overall SAP system design, ensuring cross-functional integration and data consistency
  • Establish best practices for configuration, customization, and system scalability
  • Ensure alignment between SAP design and business processes across manufacturing, supply chain, and finance

Cross-Functional Integration

  • Drive integration across SAP modules and connected systems such as MES, planning tools (e.g., PlanetTogether), and warehouse systems
  • Identify and resolve gaps between business requirements and system capabilities
  • Ensure seamless data flow and process alignment across departments

Implementation Leadership

  • Partner with system integrators (e.g., Reply) to validate solution design and execution
  • Participate in all phases of implementation including design, build, testing (UT, SIT, UAT), and go-live
  • Review and approve functional and technical specifications
  • Ensure adherence to architectural standards and governance

Business Partnership

  • Collaborate with business leaders to understand operational needs and translate them into SAP solutions
  • Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders across Finance, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Commercial teams
  • Support change management and ensure solutions are practical and adoptable by end users

Governance and Quality Assurance

  • Establish and enforce SAP architecture standards, documentation, and governance processes
  • Ensure solution quality, performance, and long-term maintainability
  • Identify risks and proactively recommend solutions during implementation

Qualifications

Required Experience

  • 8–15+ years of SAP experience with deep expertise in S/4HANA
  • Proven experience as a Solution Architect or Lead Functional Architect on at least one full-cycle SAP S/4HANA implementation
  • Strong knowledge across multiple SAP modules (FI/CO, MM, PP, SD) and their integration points
  • Experience in manufacturing, food and beverage, or process industries strongly preferred
  • Hands-on experience with system design, configuration oversight, and integration architecture
  • Experience working with external system integrators and cross-functional teams

Technical and Functional Strengths

  • Deep understanding of end-to-end business processes including order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, plan-to-produce, and record-to-report
  • Strong knowledge of SAP integration with external systems such as MES, WMS, and planning tools
  • Familiarity with testing phases (UT, SIT, UAT) and data migration strategies

Leadership Profile

  • Strong problem-solver who can operate both strategically and hands-on
  • Ability to influence without direct authority across technical and business teams
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, build-mode environment
  • Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
