Forklift Operator

POSITION SUMMARY

A Forklift Operator at IceCap Cold Storage needs to be able to operate a stand-up reach lift in minus 10 (-10) degree for long periods of time. They will need to use scanners to keep track of the items they are moving through WMS software. They may also need to prepare those items to be moved, by placing them on pallets, wrapping them, etc.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follows standard operating procedures (SOP's).
  • Put away palletized units by lifting forks for placement into racks above floor height.
  • Pick palletized units out of rack locations above floor height and set up for outbound shipment.
  • Choose and record materials, weight, counts, and condition of food items via Radio Frequency (RF) system.
  • Load and unload materials on and off trailers, pallets, skids, or lifting device.
  • Check for damaged goods.
  • Complete daily forklift maintenance/check sheet and report any machinery deficiencies to supervisor.
  • Monitor battery charge, maintain, and clean batteries, and leave material handling equipment at the proper charging station.
  • Stay aware of any possible hazards.
  • Work safely in a cold environment.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES)

  • Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Reliable commute or relocation to Council Bluffs.
  • Previous forklift experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) preferred.
  • Ability to work in temperatures as low as -10 degrees Fahrenheit while wearing company provided personal protective equipment.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 75 lbs
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule and shift, including weekends if needed.
