Parts, Inventory and Distribution Supervisor

Description

SUMMARY: In this role, you will oversee the daily operations of the distribution center, including shipping, receiving, inventory control, warehouse organization, and order fulfillment. As a hands-on working supervisor, you will lead warehouse personnel while actively participating in day-to-day warehouse operations involving industrial parts ranging from small package items to oversized freight shipments.

You will be responsible for maintaining accurate inventory, optimizing warehouse processes, and ensuring efficient material flow through the effective use of SAP Business One (SAP B1), Warehouse Management System (WMS), RF scanners, and bin location controls. This role is critical to driving operational efficiency, maintaining inventory integrity, supporting continuous process improvement, and delivering high levels of customer service while promoting a safe, organized, and productive warehouse environment.

Key Responsibilities: Duties include, but are not limited to, the following. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Warehouse & Distribution Operations

  • Supervise and lead the daily operations of the distribution center.
  • Coordinate and prioritize daily shipping, receiving, picking, packing, and transfer activities.
  • Ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of customer orders, branch transfers, and vendor receipts.
  • Assist warehouse personnel with daily operational tasks as a working supervisor.
  • Maintain warehouse cleanliness, organization, and safe working conditions.
  • Monitor workflow efficiency and recommend process improvements.

Inventory Management & Accuracy

  • Maintain accurate inventory records utilizing SAP Business One (SAP B1) and WMS systems.
  • Ensure all inventory is properly received, labeled, scanned, and stored in the correct bin locations.
  • Oversee and participate in cycle counts and physical inventory counts.
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, bin variances, and transaction errors.
  • Maintain high levels of bin location accuracy and inventory integrity.
  • Ensure proper product rotation and inventory organization standards are maintained.

SAP B1 / WMS / RF Scanner Operations

  • Utilize SAP Business One (SAP B1), Warehouse Management System (WMS), and RF scanning devices for all warehouse transactions.
  • Train and support warehouse personnel on proper scanning and warehouse procedures.
  • Monitor system transaction accuracy including receiving, put-away, transfers, picks, and shipments.
  • Assist with implementation, process improvements, and troubleshooting related to warehouse systems and scanning operations.

Shipping & Receiving

  • Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments, including UPS, LTL freight, and common carrier shipments.
  • Prepare shipping documents, bills of lading, packing slips, and carrier paperwork.
  • Verify incoming shipments against purchase orders and packing slips for accuracy and damage.
  • Ensure outgoing shipments are packaged securely and accurately.
  • Coordinate freight scheduling, pickups, and shipment tracking.
  • Handle shipments of industrial parts and equipment ranging from small package items to oversized freight.

Order Fulfillment & Warehouse Operations

  • Pick, pack, stage, and verify customer orders and branch transfers accurately.
  • Ensure all products are properly labeled and scanned during warehouse transactions.
  • Monitor warehouse layout and storage practices for efficiency and safety.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives for warehouse productivity and accuracy.

Safety & Equipment

  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Enforce company safety policies and warehouse best practices.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and hazard-free warehouse environment.
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of products and materials.

Required Qualifications: To successfully perform this job, an individual must be able to carry out each essential duty effectively. The qualifications outlined below represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities that are required. or preferred for this position.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field preferred.
  • Associate degree with relevant warehouse systems or ERP implementation experience considered.
  • SAP Business One certification or hands‑on experience strongly preferred.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or process improvement certification is a plus.
  • Warehouse management systems (WMS) or RF system training/certification preferred.

Experience:

  • 3+ years of warehouse, inventory, shipping/receiving, or distribution experience required.
  • Prior supervisory or team lead experience preferred.
  • Experience with SAP Business One (SAP B1) and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) strongly preferred.
  • Experience using RF scanners and barcode‑based inventory systems required.
  • Strong understanding of inventory control, cycle counts, and warehouse operations.
  • Experience with UPS, LTL freight, and freight carrier coordination.
  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced warehouse environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift and move materials and parts of varying sizes and weights.

Preferred Skills:

  • Industrial parts, heavy equipment, truck parts, or manufacturing distribution experience.
  • Experience managing warehouse bin systems and inventory optimization.
  • Knowledge of shipping documentation, freight coordination, and warehouse KPIs.
  • Strong leadership and team development skills.
