Job description

Kramer Workplace Investigations has an immediate opening for a full-time attorney to join the team as a Senior Attorney Investigator.

Senior Attorney Investigators are responsible for conducting impartial workplace investigations for public sector and private employers throughout California. This includes investigations into complaints of a wide array of issues including discrimination, harassment, and retaliation; bullying and abusive conduct; and whistleblower complaints.

A successful candidate must have 5 or more years of attorney experience, preferably in employment law, and 3 or more years of experience conducting impartial workplace investigations. A background in public sector law is preferred but not required. Formal training in workplace investigations is also preferred but not required.

Senior Attorney Investigators manage workplace investigations from intake to conclusion, including:

  • Communicating with clients;
  • Preparing for and conducting witness interviews;
  • Reviewing, interpreting, analyzing, and evaluating witness statements, documents and physical evidence collected during investigations;
  • Preparing a comprehensive written report that withstands scrutiny; and
  • Assisting with peer review of colleaguesโ€™ reports.

Required Qualifications (in addition to those specified above):

  • Member of the California State Bar in good standing;
  • Familiarity with California (and federal) employment laws;
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office, particularly Word;
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, including the ability to establish rapport and conduct impartial interviews;
  • Excellent analytical and writing skills, including identifying and evaluating evidentiary materials and preparing comprehensive investigation reports;
  • Ability to assess facts with impartiality and manage personal biases;
  • Ability to work independently and to collaborate with other team members;
  • Ability to work remotely (from home) with the ability to travel within California conducting in-person interviews and meetings with clients (infrequent overnight travel possible);
  • Strong work ethic and excellent attention to detail and follow through; and
  • Desire to work in a collegial and collaborative work environment.
