Job description

Position Overview:

 Verra Mobility is actively seeking a Senior Hardware Systems Engineer to design, test, and maintain hardware and software systems to ensure they operate efficiently and robustly. This position will report directly to the Edge HW Engineering Manager.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Own the design, development, field validation, and deployment for Verra's complex hardware / firmware systems.
  • Be (or become) a subject matter expert in the field of camera imaging, radar systems, and other embedded sensing devices.
  • Work alongside hardware Product team to develop detailed technical specifications from product requirements.
  • Develop, execute and own overall validation test plans against technical specifications and field requirements.
  • Perform field failure analysis, including root cause and corrective action for both hardware and firmware systems.
  • Work closely with 3rd party Original Design Manufacturers, collaborating closely with their engineering and technical teams in product development and validation.
  • Develop and perform acceptance testing for hardware / firmware system from 3rd party vendors.
  • Work closely with firmware development teams, to drive device performance via understanding of the firmware codebase and configuration.
  • Drive and own embedded sensor functionality (including sensor fusion), including but not limited to cameras and radar systems.
  • Work closely with commercial and account teams, to ensure customer business rules are met with products in the field.

Essential Skills/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, electro-mechanical or computer engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years' relevant industry experience in a high-volume consumer electronics system environment is preferred.
  • Experience with schematic, PCB physical design using Cadence Concept and Allegro or similar CAD tools
  • Lab skills: oscilloscopes, logic and protocol analyzers, electronic loads, etc.
  • Ability to work with firmware codebases, though detailed firmware development skills are not a must
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Design experience in digital logic, simulation, power conversion and delivery.
  • Familiarity with RF/wireless concepts a plus.
  • Experience with high-speed serial and memory interfaces including signal integrity design and measurement fundamentals.
  • Command line interface and scripting skills.
  • Specific expertise in multiple of the following areas preferred: CPU or GPU microarchitecture, batteries, power management, analog design, audio, wireless, DisplayPort, HDMI, PCIe, Thunderbolt, USB, SPI, I2C, UART, analog sensors, interconnect.
  • Statistical data analysis and visualization (ex. JMP) is a plus.
