Description

This large enterprise is seeking a Wi-Fi Network Engineer to join their team. The candidate should be a Wi-Fi Subject Matter Expert, who will play a crucial role in the design, implementation, and support of our Enterprise Cisco WLAN infrastructure, ensuring the stability, reliability, and performance of their environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Serve as a Wi-Fi Subject Matter Expert, providing expertise and leadership in all aspects of wireless networking.

• Design, implement, support, and maintain Cisco WLAN infrastructure, including Wi-Fi Surveys pre and post, Wireless LAN Controllers, Access Points, and related technologies.

• Demonstrate expert knowledge of Cisco AirOS as well as Catalyst Wireless Controllers.

• Do Wi-Fi performance troubleshooting and optimization.

• Utilize Cisco Prime and Cisco Catalyst Center, aka DNAC for network planning, deployment, monitoring, management, and troubleshooting.

• Be able to create professional documents on the Wi-Fi Environment

• Aid in the resolution of escalated issues and actively participate in problem management activities.

• Cross-train other IT staff members in the maintenance and usage of wireless technology.

• Research new Wi-Fi technologies and processes to improve the environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

• Eight years of diverse work experience in IT with a minimum of six years experience in systems analysis and application program development, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Strongly Preferred:

• Preferred Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent certification in Wi-Fi networking.

• Minimum of 6 years of experience as a Wi-Fi Network Engineer.

• Strong expertise in designing, implementing, and supporting WLAN infrastructure and Cisco wireless solutions.

• Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve complex network issues.

• Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

• Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with industry trends and best practices.

- They need an Engineer that has been wireless focused in enterprise environment, they are NOT looking for a Net Eng that has dabbled in wireless as part of their job

- Need to have installed and configured Cisco 9800 series WLAN controllers from scratch and do troubleshooting from initial configurations through production in enterprise environment (they are migrating from 8540 WLAN controllers to the 9800 series).

- Wireless site survey/testing/design using Ekahau

- Experience in coordinating the installation and design/troubleshooting of Cisco wireless access points (WAPs) – this role assists in the design of the wireless environment and troubleshooting of issues, a 3rd party vendor does the actual installations of the WAPs, so they would coordinate that activity (they are upgrading to Wifi 7 – 9176 series WAPs)

- Cisco Catalyst Center or similar tool for monitoring and troubleshooting

- Basic Cisco router and switch troubleshooting – they partner with the Net Eng team for on-call rotational support 1 week every 6-7 weeks, so this is why they need basic route/switch experience – there is a stipend for their on-call week

Looking for candidates who are very detailed oriented, organized and don't need a lot of hand-holding. The candidate may be asked to help out providing back-up support to the network team on an on-call rotation, so any prior experience with basic troubleshooting of Cisco core routers and switches would be helpful.

This is a 4-person wireless engineering team.
