Engineering Program Manager, Wireless Regulation

Cupertino, California, United States Hardware

Join Apple's Product Integrity team as an Engineering Program Manager (EPM) and play a pivotal role in bringing our groundbreaking products to the world. We are seeking a dynamic and strategically‑minded program manager to lead global wireless certification, issues management, and resource planning for New Product Introduction (NPI) efforts across our ecosystem for Wireless products.

Description

This role stands at the intersection of hardware engineering, global policy, and product compliance. As a key program manager, you will lead complex wireless certifications across products, but also navigate regulatory issues in a fast‑changing and cutting‑edge technology space. All the while, you will manage resources and capabilities that will help us meet project schedules and objectives efficiently and effectively. In addition, this role will play a key part in exploratory technologies, and help ensure clarity among engineering and cross‑functional players as the regulatory landscape changes rapidly. Correspondingly, this role will work with internal and external partners to enable the timely certification of our products and technologies. The ideal candidate is a cross‑functional leader, tenacious problem‑solver, and a builder of systems who thrives on bringing order out of complexity. Responsibilities
  • You will drive Wireless technology development and certifications, while leading engineering core teams through a dynamic regulatory and standards environment on a global scale.
  • You will lead Wireless Product Certification test planning and schedules with engineers and technologists charged with delivering hardware products. Key will be to drive towards demanding schedules, while ensuring utmost optimization and efficiency by streamlining capabilities while maximizing throughput.
  • You will oversee issue and priority management efforts among EPMs to drive data‑driven decisions impacting Product Integrity, and ultimately Apple as a whole. All the while, managing laboratory and strategic vendor relationships will be key.
  • You will be responsible for communicating and delivering briefings and updates to senior engineering management and executives to enable decision‑making within Apple’s rapid, product development life cycle.
  • You will also work alongside engineering leaders to engage in external‑facing outreach to technical bodies, committees, and even regulators, to champion Apple priorities.
  • You will engage with cross‑functional partners to drive consensus, define clear objectives, and manage competing tradeoffs across programs in the Wireless regulation space.
  • You will also drive process discipline, technical rigor, and help close critical gaps throughout our compliance processes. Where needed, you will be charged with helping to build and implement scalable systems that enable predictability and consistency across programs.
  • You will also be charged with facilitating escalation management, and provide updates to executive leadership, while ensuring information flows across teams are seamless and aligned to organizational priorities.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 7‑10 years of experience in technical program management, issues project management, or a related role, within a hardware development or NPI environment. Equivalent experience in relevant fields to be considered on a case‑by‑case basis.
  • Proven experience in cross‑functional leadership, with a demonstrated ability to influence, align, and drive teams without direct authority.
  • A strong track record of identifying and closing process gaps, and experience building scalable systems, frameworks, or processes from the ground up.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills, with the ability to structure and navigate ambiguous challenges, and demonstrating a proclivity for action.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex information from multiple sources, facilitate consensus‑building, and drive alignment on outcomes—especially when managing competing priorities and tradeoffs.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Outstanding communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical and regulatory concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Familiarity with the RF/wireless technology space and/or regulatory compliance processes.
  • Experience developing and executing strategic roadmaps in a global, multi‑region environment.
  • Ability to embark on international travel, without limitation, up to 15% required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience or MBA is a plus
  • Experience with certification testing for consumer electronics bodies (e.g., FCC, ISED, CE RED).
  • Technical experience with core technologies such as WiFi, SAR, OTA, Bluetooth, EMC, and Cellular, and their uses in hardware products highly desirable.
  • A technical background in Electrical / Mechanical / Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is desirable.
  • Experience in high‑volume manufacturing and product development are also desirable.
Compensation and Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. The base pay range for this role is between $175,500 and $311,700, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programmes. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You’ll also receive benefits including: comprehensive medical and dental coverage, retirement benefits, a range of discounted products and free services, and for formal education related to advancing your career at Apple, reimbursement for certain educational expenses — including tuition. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary bonuses or commission payments as well as relocation.
