Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION

The IT Wireless Engineer provides engineering implementation and support for the company-wide standard WiFi infrastructure and related components and tools.

Specialist areas of focus will include day to day operational installations and service monitoring, collaboration with other units on joint projects, and coordination of projects to improve and evolve Wireless operations.

Projects utilize a variety of hardware and software technologies and may include new feature/functionality or modifications to existing infrastructure.

Under minimal supervision and working independently, must also have very strong writing, computer skills and the ability to effectively communicate with the Management Team.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. Bachelor's degree in business, information technology, or related field is preferred.
  • Three to five plus (3-5+) years of successful experience within the Information Technology field.
  • Five plus (5+) years of successful experience within the Information Technology field supporting a multi-location enterprise wide area network is preferred.
  • Focused training/seminars/workshops on wireless a/b/g/n/ac technology, Radio Frequency, and wireless security solutions.
  • Training on desktop O/S, inter-networking, VOIP, VoWLAN, QoS, SNMP, and SMARTS. Training and demonstrated working knowledge of routing protocols.
  • Training on various wireless technology support and survey tools.
  • Professional Wireless Industry Associations/Affiliations.
  • Strong background in wired network infrastructure components including routers, switches and layer 1 technologies.
  • Training or strong knowledge of privacy laws including HITECH and HIPAA.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce sound wireless solution designs and the required direct technical support.
  • Demonstrated experience with wireless design, planning, and implementation.
  • Solid understand of inter-networking routing protocols and their integration with wireless technology.
  • Demonstrated experience with the design, planning, and implementation of various wireless encryption methods, RFID and wireless voice solutions.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: Certified Wireless Network Administrator (CWNA) or within one (1) year of employment. Certified Wireless Analysis Professional (CWAP) is preferred.
