What does a wireless director do?

A Wireless Director oversees the planning, implementation, and management of wireless communication systems within an organization. They are responsible for ensuring reliable wireless network performance, developing strategies for network expansion, and staying updated with the latest wireless technologies. Wireless Directors often manage teams of engineers and collaborate with other departments to align wireless infrastructure with business goals. Their role is crucial in maintaining secure, high-performing wireless connectivity for the organization's operations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a wireless director, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Wireless Director, you need expertise in wireless network architecture, telecommunications management, and a background in engineering or information technology, often supported by a relevant degree. Familiarity with wireless technologies (such as 5G, LTE), network management tools, and industry certifications like CWNP or Cisco are typically required. Strong leadership, strategic planning, and effective communication skills distinguish top performers in this role. These competencies ensure robust network performance, successful team leadership, and the ability to drive business growth in a rapidly evolving sector.

We are looking for the best candidates for our leadership team and are offering a competitive hourly wage of $35–$45/hour (depending on experience) , along with significant overtime potential given our standard 10–12 hour workdays.

For the right candidate, this position also includes an extensive compensation package:

A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A GENERAL SUPERINTENDENT

As a General Superintendent for our Wireless & Communications division, you will oversee the end-to-end execution of vital underground infrastructure projects. You will directly manage large-scale trenching, directional drilling, and plowing operations to establish clean pathways for new conduit.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include ensuring all structural elements-including the strategic placement and grouting of junction boxes-strictly adhere to project blueprints and local safety regulations. Once physical containment is secured, you will coordinate the seamless pulling of fiber optic cables and schedule high-precision splicing teams to guarantee network continuity.

Beyond field mechanics, you will actively manage crew schedules, coordinate closely with project engineers, and enforce strict safety standards to keep high-risk excavation zones completely incident-free. Ultimately, you will serve as the critical bridge between engineering designs and field execution, delivering a fully tested, code-compliant communications network on time and within budget.

  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of directional drilling, trenching, plowing, conduit installation, and fiber optic cable pulling/splicing workflows.
  • Leadership Capability: Proven ability to manage large field crews, coordinate schedules, and interface productively with project engineers.
  • Travel Availability: Flexibility to travel regularly to project locations throughout the region.

We are really looking for a self-driven professional who pays close attention to detail and can lead field operations with minimal supervision. Do you have a proactive, positive, and professional attitude? Are you able to mentor a field crew while maintaining high integrity? Do you have a strong work ethic and an uncompromising commitment to safety? If so, you might just be perfect for this General Superintendent position!
