Commercial Lending Associate Attorney
Minneapolis, MN
Winthrop amp; Weinstine, an entrepreneurial, full-service law firm in downtown Minneapolis, has an excellent opportunity on its well-recognized lending team for an associate attorney with 3-7 years of experience. Our lending practice is fast paced, very collaborative, devoted to excellent client service, and involves sophisticated high-end matters for a wide range of businesses. Qualified candidates will be highly motivated, have excellent academic credentials, strong analytical abilities, excellent oral and written skills and will be a self-starter. The candidate will have 3-7 years of lending experience, with a strong preference for candidates who have backgrounds in real estate financing and/or UCC secured transactions. EXPERIENCE WITH THE FOLLOWING ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION REQUIRED:
  • Document Drafting amp; Management: Draft, review, and revise all necessary legal documents for clients, ensuring they meet legal standards, regulatory requirements and any client-required terms and conditions.
  • Legal Opinion amp; Counsel: Provide sound legal opinions and strategic counsel to clients regarding commercial lending matters, ensuring advice is grounded in current laws and regulations.
  • Negotiation: Respond to opposing parties’ comments to loan documents, engage in negotiations with opposing parties, clients, and other stakeholders, aiming for favorable outcomes while protecting the client’s interests.
  • Client amp; Partner Communication: Maintain consistent and clear communication with clients and internal partners about the progress and status of assigned matters, ensuring all parties are informed.

COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES) REQUIRED:
  • Dependable, accountable, and consistently demonstrating a strong work ethic with a professional demeanor in all interactions.
  • Ability to work well under pressure with deadlines – possess a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a variety of personalities and work styles.
  • Ability to be flexible in schedule and adaptable to constant change.

  • Work requires more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position.

QUALIFICATIONS, REQUIRED:
  • Three plus years of experience, with a preference for relevant experience in representing banks, other financial institutions, and secured lenders in commercial lending transactions including real estate secured and asset-based lending areas.
  • Highly motivated self-starter
  • Strong analytical abilities.
  • Excellent computer and communication skills.
  • Experience with the following software: MS Word.
  • Excellent grammar, proofreading skills, and a keen eye for detail, ensuring high levels of accuracy in all written communications and document preparation.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks effectively, ensuring completion of assignments despite frequent interruptions and changes in schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS, PREFERRED:
  • Experience with the following software: iManage.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Requires use of office equipment, such as computers, phones, and copiers.
  • Requires sitting and computer-related activities for extended periods of time.
  • Requires occasional lifting up to and exceeding 20 pounds.

SALARY amp; BENEFITS
Competitive base salary commensurate with experience. $210,000 - $260,000 annually.
Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. Winthrop amp; Weinstine reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualifications of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
