Winder Operator (Enjoy a 3-day weekend every week)

Winder Operator – Western Container

(Beloit or Janesville, WI)

Do you have over a year of experience working in a manufacturing or production setting? How about experience with operating and tending industrial machinery? Even if you don’t have the experience are you willing and eager to learn? If so, Western Container would love to have you join their team!

The Winder Operator is responsible for setting up and operating saw/winder machines in a safe, efficient, and accurate manner to meet production goals. This includes reading work orders, inspecting finished products, logging production data, and preparing items for shipment. The position is Monday – Thursday 2nd shift. (2:00 p.m.- 12:30 a.m)

Western Container is an established Beloit manufacturer that produces paper tubes and cores that keep production lines moving. Operations are stable and jobs are steady, with predictable schedules and consistent hours you can count on. You’ll get on-the-job training, managers on the floor who communicate, and a team that backs you up. Safety comes first, pay is on time, and there’s real room to grow if you’re hardworking and reliable.

What You’ll Do:

· Setup appropriate machinery per job specifications ensuring safety, quality and appropriately applying lean strategies.

· Required to log into jobs and record production data. This includes closing open work orders and sending orders to finished goods for shipping.

· Read work orders or production schedules to determine specifications, such as materials to be used, locations of cutting lines, or dimensions and tolerances.

· Position guides, stops, holding blocks, or other fixtures to secure and direct workpieces, using hand tools and measuring devices.

· Set stops on machine beds, change dies, and adjust components, such as rams or power presses, when making multiple or successive passes.

· Start machines, monitor their operations, and record operational data.

· Set up, operate, or tend machines to saw, cut, shear, slit, punch, crimp, notch, bend, or straighten metal or plastic material.

· Responsible for machine changeover and appropriate material setup.

· Examine work area at the beginning and end of each shift and during any machine changeover for safety and proper operations.

· Examine completed workpieces for defects, such as chipped edges or marred surfaces and sort defective pieces according to types of flaws.

· Measure completed workpieces to verify conformance to specifications, using micrometers, gauges, calipers, templates, or rulers.

· Safely and efficiently prepares material for shipping. This includes proper identification, tagging and wrapping.

· Required to be a team player and collaborate with various departments to meet customer satisfaction.

· The ability to stack finished goods on pallets.

What We’re Looking For:

· High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.

· One-year of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

· Knowledge of Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) software, preferred.

· Knowledge of Microsoft Office (word, outlook and excel), preferred.

· Driver’s License preferred.
