Job Description

Evergreen Innovation Group, part of the DPR Family of Companies, is seeking an experienced Energy Marshall who will play a critical role in ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient execution of electrical work on active construction projects. Acting as the subject matter expert in energy isolation and power management, the Energy Marshall works closely with field crews, project management, and safety teams to control hazardous energy, oversee lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, and manage all temporary and permanent power systems on the jobsite.

This position is essential for maintaining operational safety, reducing risk, and ensuring compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, and company standards. Responsibilities will include but may not be limited to the following:

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Energy Control & Safety

  • Develop, implement, and monitor Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures across the project site.

  • Act as the single point of contact for energy isolation and re-energization activities.

  • Verify that all electrical systems are properly de-energized before work begins and safely restored once completed.

  • Oversight of Temporary & Permanent Power

  • Manage installation, maintenance, and inspection of temporary power systems.

  • Coordinate with electrical crews to ensure safe energization and de-energization during construction phases.

  • Track and control all energy sources, maintaining accurate logs and permits.

  • Collaboration & Communication

  • Serve as the liaison between project management, field crews, and safety teams for energy-related activities.

  • Communicate potential hazards, risks, and solutions clearly to all stakeholders.

  • Provide daily briefings or updates related to energy control and power system status.

  • Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, NEC, and company safety policies.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of LOTO events, inspections, and incidents.

  • Participate in audits, inspections, and safety meetings.

  • Training & Continuous Improvement

  • Train and mentor field staff on energy control best practices.

  • Recommend improvements to energy management processes.

  • Stay current with evolving codes, standards, and industry best practices.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, power distribution, and energy isolation practices.

  • Proven ability to implement and enforce Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and documentation skills.

  • Ability to foster effective relationships with teams and stakeholders.

  • Safety-first mindset with strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.

Education and Experience

  • Experience as a Safety Officer, Foreman, or Superintendent in electrical construction.

  • 5+ years of experience in commercial or industrial electrical construction.

  • Prior experience on large commercial or industrial projects.

  • Knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910/1926, NFPA 70E, and NEC requirements.

  • Journeyman Electrician license (or equivalent electrical experience) required.

  • Training certifications in NFPA 70E, OSHA 30, or equivalent.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work on active construction sites in varying weather conditions.

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces as needed.

  • Regular standing, walking, bending, and use of PPE required.
