Job description

Basic Purpose
Supports the preparation and filing of required reports with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission ("SEC"), Federal Energy Regulatory Commission ("FERC") and other required external financial reporting for the Company. Performs technical research on SEC requirements and U.S. generally accepted accounting practices ("US GAAP") and prepares technical white papers. Performs analysis for other nonpublic external financial reports and internal reports including reports provided to the Corporate Headquarters. Assists with the monthly financial close and ensures adherence to the Corporate Headquarters' reporting timeline. Provides technical direction and an initial level of review to less experienced team members.

Essential Education, Skills, and Environment
Education and Work Experience
Bachelor's degree from an accredited school in accounting or a related field and 6 years of related work experience. If degree is a in a related field, applicant must have completed college-level coursework required for Nevada CPAs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Supports and assists in managing the preparation and filing of required reports with the SEC, FERC and other required external financial reporting for the Company.

Prepares financial reports or schedules for inclusion in required external financial reports.

Analyzes, reviews, and approves financial information received through the internal corporate reporting process or from other team members in preparation for inclusion in required external financial reports.

Oversees and administers the preparation timelines for the Company's required external financial reports.

Compiles, formats, and reviews SEC reports in preparation for filing including performing XBRL tagging.

Reviews reporting documents to ensure consistency and accuracy of presentation and disclosure of subsidiary financial statements with corresponding Corporate Headquarters' period filings. Prepares responses to information and data requests from Corporate Headquarters in support of this review process.

Analyzes, reviews and approves financial information received through the internal corporate reporting process or from other team members to be provided to the Corporate Headquarters. Ensures internal reports are submitted in a timely manner in adherence with the Corporate Headquarters' reporting timeline.

Ensures personal development relative to new SEC requirements, FERC requirements and US GAAP. Performs technical research on SEC requirements, FERC requirements and US GAAP. Prepares technical white papers by interpreting guidance and applying experience and principles to resolve accounting issues including consideration and documentation of the regulatory implications.

Participates in the monthly financial close by reviewing financial statements for possible errors, resolving accounting issues identified by team members, and ensuring that the team adheres to the Corporate Headquarters' reporting timeline.

Prepares and records journal entries and reviews journal entries prepared by other team members to support accurate financial reporting. Prepares account reconciliations and reviews account reconciliations prepared by other team members as assigned.

Leads accounting projects and/or process improvements by identifying opportunities for improvement, developing new processes or policies and then implementing these processes or policies. Prepares schedules for general and deferred rate cases, utilizes knowledge to respond to data requests from interveners and contributes to the preparation of witness testimony.

Ensures all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes and regulations applicable to position and company.

Performs related duties as assigned.
