Job description

Help Staff Members Go Home Safe Every Day.

At Room & Board, our people—and the culture they create together—are our greatest advantage. As our Safety & Compliance Manager, you'll play a critical role in protecting the health and well-being of our staff members while helping build a culture where safety is part of every decision.

This is more than a compliance role. You'll partner with leaders across our delivery and distribution operations to strengthen safety, reduce risk, and create practical solutions that help our teams succeed. If you're energized by building relationships, solving problems, and making a meaningful impact, we'd love to meet you.

Why Room & Board?

As a 100% employee-owned company, every eligible staff member shares in our success through our Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). Ownership isn't just part of our benefits—it shapes how we work together. We think long-term, support one another, and take pride in creating exceptional experiences for our customers and each other.

Here, you'll join a collaborative culture where your ideas matter, your work has a direct impact, and your contributions help strengthen our people, our business, and the communities we serve.

Location:

4600 Olson Memorial Highway

Golden Valley, MN 55422

Please note: This role is hybrid, working Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in office. We are not currently considering remote candidates.

You will share your talents as a Safety & Compliance Manager in the following ways:

  • Lead safety and compliance across our Delivery and Distribution operations by ensuring compliance with OSHA, DOT, environmental, and other regulatory requirements while helping leaders confidently navigate evolving safety standards.
  • Manage risk and improve performance by conducting audits, inspections, and risk assessments, analyzing safety data and incident trends, maintaining accurate compliance records, and implementing solutions that reduce organizational risk.
  • Strengthen our safety culture by partnering with operational leaders, safety champions, delivering training, and fostering shared ownership for creating a safe, healthy workplace.
  • Drive continuous improvement by leading cross-functional safety initiatives, facilitating the Delivery & Distribution Safety Steering Committee, improving safety systems and processes, and using data and insights to enhance the staff member experience and business performance.

You will bring the following experiences & qualifications as a Safety & Compliance Manager:

  • A bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in safety, compliance, environmental health, risk management, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and other applicable safety regulations, with the ability to apply them in an operational environment.
  • Experience conducting audits, risk assessments, and compliance activities while using data to identify trends and improve performance.
  • The ability to build trusted relationships and influence leaders through strong communication, coaching, and collaboration.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail and a passion for continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with safety, compliance, or reporting systems is a plus.
  • The ability to travel occasionally based on business needs.
  • Ability to provide proof of identity and legal work authorization upon hire.

What you’ll find working here as a Safety & Compliance Manager:

  • Salary: $100000 - $110000 / year
    (depending on experience)
  • Benefits that focus on holistic well-being. The whole person matters, not just the one who shows up for work. That’s why we invest in holistic well-being that supports and encourages you to live a full life. Besides a competitive paycheck, we offer benefits to help you thrive in every aspect of life. That includes three weeks of paid vacation, a generous 401(k) match, profit-sharing and more. As a 100% employee-owned company, staff members working 1,000 hours or more in a 12-month period are eligible to participate in our Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). This plan acts as an additional Retirement Savings Plan fully funded by Room & Board
  • Meaningful work. We create a meaningful work experience by empowering everyone to contribute, taking pride in everything we do, and making the world sustainable, inclusive and beautiful.
  • A culture of respect. We sustain a culture of respect by relying on our shared values, building supportive and kind teams, and ensuring all voices are heard and celebrated.
