Overview: Wildish Building Co. is a division of the Wildish Group of Companies headquartered in Eugene, Oregon.. Wildish Building Co. performs commercial buildings, k-12, higher education, sports facilities, heavy civil, and water-wastewater treatment facilities. Wildish Building Co is seeking a Lead Cost Estimator.
Title: Lead Cost Estimator / General Building
Primary Functions:
The Lead Cost Estimator is responsible for the planning and management of estimating activities for specific construction projects including general buildings/heavy civil/utility structures. This position will take the lead role in preparation, interpretation and presentation of estimates.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
  • Able to perform all Estimator responsibilities
  • Review project plans, requirements and specifications
  • Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and materials pricing
  • Coordinate subcontract solicitations and job walks
  • Determine labor and construction equipment costs
  • Prepare conceptual estimates
  • Meet and maintain bidding and work schedules
  • Submit requisitions for purchase of materials
  • Compare competitive trade bids
  • Review preliminary quotes and pre-bid estimates with Project Manager
  • Secure all bid documents (bid forms and quote letters)
  • Prepare subcontractor bid list and submit drawings to subcontractors
  • Participate in bid compilation on bid day
  • Assist jobsite staff with estimates after bid award
  • Perform post-bid buyouts (if applicable)
  • Maintain good relationship with owners, suppliers and subcontractors
  • Supervise and train estimating staff (if applicable)

Position Requirements
Minimum Skills/Experience Requirements:
  • A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or Architectural degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years Estimating experience
  • Ability to read and understand specifications and drawings
  • Ability to make accurate judgments and calculations
  • Working knowledge of construction costs and principles
  • Estimating experience (quantity takeoffs, purchasing accounting; engineering design knowledge and project management experience desirable)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is a prerequisite.
  • Experience utilizing HeavyBid and Building Connected is preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements/Mental Requirements:
  • Work mostly in office setting.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • During travel to potential job sites, this position will require the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
  • Must be able to pass a urine drug test and background check.
