Job description

We are seeking a driven Senior Attorney to join our Wildfire Litigation team in San Diego. The ideal candidate will have a sophisticated background in complex civil litigation. Previous wildfire litigation experience is desired but not required. This role will focus on investigating, developing strategy for, and litigating cases involving human-caused fires of all sizes, offering an excellent opportunity to work on impactful cases within a collaborative team environment to achieve meaningful results for impacted communities.

SALARY: $175,000 - $225,000 annually

Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualifications for the role.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and manage all phases of complex civil litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, depositions, and trial preparation.

  • Assist in developing and executing legal strategies for wildfire and other complex litigation matters, including investigating case causes and working closely with experts throughout the litigation process.

  • Conduct legal research and draft high-quality briefs, motions, and memoranda.

  • Operate independently in trials, hearings, mediations, and settlement conferences.

  • Work closely and collaboratively with all team members in developing strategy, executing strategy, and delivering excellent client service.

  • Maintain strong, proactive communication with clients and ensure timely updates on case developments.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

  • Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of California.

  • Active membership in good standing with either the Oregon State Bar or the Washington State Bar Association.

  • 7+ years of civil litigation experience (experience in wildfire, mass tort, or environmental litigation is a plus).

  • Strong litigation skills, including extensive deposition and motion practice experience.

  • Exceptional legal research, writing, and analytical skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple matters and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Commitment to client advocacy, teamwork, and achieving results for impacted communities.
