USI is looking for a positive and skilled, knowledgeable special educator dedicated to helping students who are working on language acquisition to succeed in school. The candidate we hire will be part of a team, providing coordinated support as well as direct instruction for students whose second language is English. The English Language (EL) Teacher will provide language acquisition support to students with a wide range language acquisition levels. Through a hybrid of collaborative teaching and small group support, the English Language (EL) Teacher will support students on grade level standards as well as individual goals. Our English Language (EL) Teachers will be responsible for creating Individualized Learning Plans that are unique to each student based on their WIDA ACCESS assessment data.

The ideal candidate for this position will meet the following qualifications:

• A valid Indiana certification in area of ENL/ELL
• Experience working with children, especially students who's primary language is not English
• Strong curriculum knowledge and familiarity with literacy development
• The instructional and management tools necessary to provide diverse students at varying skill levels with a safe, supportive environment to grow and do their very best work.
• Experience involving families (parents, grandparents and guardians) as well as the community in support of children’s academic and social development
• Excellent writing and overall communication skills
• A cooperative, energetic disposition and capacity to work in concert with a team.
• The capacity to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment relentlessly focused on high standards and achieving ambitious goals for our young students.

Education/Certification:

Bachelor's Degree

Job Requirements

To support classroom instruction by providing effective ELL instructional interventions to students who are English language learners.

This role requires the IT to work well independently as well as within groups.

Candidates need to be flexible, proactive, and knowledgeable of effective instructional strategies and behavior management techniques.

Job Details

As ELL Teacher you will:

1. Follow a daily schedule of pullout and push in support for a group of ELL students that are in grades K-8

2. Develop lessons in collaboration with classroom teachers

3. Provide individual or small group instruction to ELL students in specific grade levels

4. Conduct interventions through a pull out or push in model

5. Modify instruction to meet the needs of targeted students

6. Communicate student progress with classroom teachers on daily or weekly basis

7. Conduct quarterly grade level reading/math assessments

8. Attend faculty and grade level meetings

9. Complete duties as assigned by principal

10. Assist with school-wide testing as needed
