Job qualifications and experience requirements:

  • Relevant Safety certifications or licenses 
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent Required
  • >4 years of proven experience as EHS Specialist for manufacturing industry 
  • Previous experience in accident prevention and safety inspection work
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local safety regulations, protocols, and/or procedures
  • Experience in performing safety inspections and ensuring compliance with OSHA safety standards.
  • Proven experience presenting Safety training to large groups.
  • Experience in conducting safety audits, assessments, and investigations. Ability to investigate and analyze information and draw conclusions.
  • Experience analyzing information and developing strategic sourcing strategies.
  • Available for weekly on-call rotation

Some of the activities you will be doing:

  • Ensures compliance with environmental regulations
  • Monitors and inspects the site.
  • Analyzes and reports data
  • Responsible for providing assistance in collecting, testing, processing and maintenance of field/environmental samples, which involve knowledge on fundamental field/environmental support policies, programs and practices while completing appropriate forms, documents and databases.
  • Conduct worksite sampling for exposure levels for chemicals, lead, asbestos, silica, mold and noise.
  • Develop and /or recommend corrective measures to eliminate hazards and prevent future problems.
  • Assist in developing mandated health & safety programs.
  • Consult on design of engineering controls and work practices.
  • Interpret material safety data sheets (MSDS).
  • Inspects and evaluates work operations, production methods, and engineering controls to determine potential contaminant emission sources or related health hazards associated with workplace conditions.
  • Conducts investigations of working conditions in places of employment for the prevention of occupational disease and industrial health hazards, with specific reference to toxic substances, noise, and harmful physical agents.
  • Measures airborne concentrations of dust, gases and mist; uses air sampling instruments and collection devices.
  • Collects samples of work materials to detect and evaluate employee exposure to toxic substances.
  • Reviews plans for health hazard control procedures.
  • Interprets rules and regulations to officials of industry and others.
  • Evaluates investigation findings, proposed corrective measures, and compliance with health rules and standards.
  • Consults with management, industrial engineers, employee representatives, and other agencies regarding industrial health problems and solutions.
  • Participates in follow-up investigations to ensure corrective measures are carried out where required.
  • Participates in special studies and monitoring programs to determine environmental conditions.
  • Other duties as assigned in order to support site safety.

Physical requirements:

  • Ability to utilize personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toes shoes, goggles, respirator, safety harness, safety line, flotation gear, etc.) safely per OSHA standards 
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work including lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs utilizing proper lifting techniques 
  • Must have the ability to climb in a safe manner (climbing as a minimum includes stairs and ramps). 
  • Bend, twist, lift, stand, walk, reach, see, move, and hear as required by specific position. 
  • Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions, including rain, extreme heat and cold and near moving parts. Exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, vibrations, dust and asphalt. 
  • Must be able to work in a high noise environment where the use of hearing protection is required 
  • Ability to frequently use hand or fingers to handle or feel objects/materials. 
  • Ability to frequently reach with hands and arms. 
  • Ability to walk long distances and demonstrate good balance on uneven terrain or maneuvering obstacles. 
  • Ability to safely use power and hand tools. 
  • Able to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required. 
  • Ability to be a self-starter and to follow directions and work in a team environment 
  • Display strong attention to detail by keeping mind on task and eyes on task.

 USD.79,200 - 108,900 plus bonus.
