Job Title: Mammalian Cell Culture Associate
Job Description
This role focuses on performing mammalian cell culture activities in a GMP manufacturing environment using aseptic technique. You will support routine production runs, execute in-process testing, and ensure accurate documentation while working in a collaborative and tight-knit cell culture team. The position offers the opportunity to build long-term experience in cell culture and reagent operations within a supportive and engaging work culture.
Responsibilities
- Perform mammalian cell culture activities using aseptic technique, including passaging, seeding, harvesting, concentrating, and related maintenance tasks.
- Work in a cleanroom environment and follow proper gowning procedures prior to entering laboratory space.
- Monitor multiple manufacturing production runs simultaneously and ensure all activities adhere to established timelines and quality standards.
- Follow clearly defined standard operating procedures (SOPs), scientific methods, and quality guidelines during all laboratory and manufacturing activities.
- Apply basic analytical skills, scientific methods, and operational processes to perform routine and straightforward laboratory activities.
- Perform in-process sampling and testing during production using analytical laboratory instruments.
- Conduct out-of-specification (OOS) testing as necessary and follow appropriate documentation and escalation procedures.
- Document all test results with strict adherence to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and traceability.
- Maintain, update, and organize instrument calibration and maintenance logbooks in compliance with quality and regulatory expectations.
- Execute moderate to complex test methods by following written procedures and ensure consistent and reliable results.
- Prepare reagents and formulations, and perform pH measurements and other wet lab techniques as part of daily laboratory operations.
- Plan and execute daily workflows so that the first half of the day focuses on cell culture runs and the second half focuses on inoculations, harvests, and preparation for the following day.
- Use and maintain equipment such as autoclaves and other laboratory instruments required for manufacturing and testing.
- Collaborate closely with the cell culture and purification groups, supporting shared objectives while maintaining primary cell culture responsibilities.
- Demonstrate high attention to detail and critical thinking in troubleshooting cell culture processes and laboratory methods.
- Contribute to a positive, long-term team environment by communicating effectively, participating in team activities, and supporting colleagues as needed.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in a science-related field.
- At least 12 months of mammalian cell culture passaging experience, including performing and troubleshooting.
- At least 6 months of manufacturing industry experience.
- At least 12 months of wet laboratory experience.
- Demonstrated experience using aseptic technique, which may include academic or industry settings.
- Experience working with an autoclave in a laboratory or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and written test methods to perform moderate to complex assays.
- Ability to perform in-process testing and basic analytical measurements, including pH and related wet lab techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills, verified through prior experience and references.
- Ability to document work accurately and thoroughly in compliance with GMP requirements.
- Comfort working in a cleanroom environment and following gowning procedures.
- Ability to manage multiple production runs and meet strict manufacturing timelines.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hopkins, MN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $27.00 - $30.00/hr.
