Job description

We are seeking a reliable and safety-driven Wet End Operator to join our manufacturing production team. In this role, you will be responsible for prepping and managing roll stock for upcoming orders, setting up machinery, and ensuring we run high-quality corrugated sheets at maximum speeds with minimal waste.

Key Responsibilities


  • Machine Setup & Operation: Set up machinery and make critical adjustments to produce high-quality corrugated sheets at peak efficiency.
  • Roll Stock Management: Shaft and prep roll stock for splices on upcoming orders; remove and prep unused roll stock to be safely returned to the storage area.
  • Inventory Control: Use our scanning system to track all roll stock from arrival to consumption. Ensure all rolls are properly tagged with size, grade, and lineal feet.
  • Team Communication: Maintain constant radio communication with Clamp Drivers, Dry End, and Stacker operators to ensure all paper and quality requirements are met.
  • Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all company safety rules, including Lockout/Tagout procedures, and wear proper PPE (including gloves).
  • Workspace Upkeep: Take active responsibility for cleaning, organizing, and maintaining a highly efficient workstation and common areas.



Qualifications & Skills


  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Technical Skills: Basic working knowledge of computers for inventory tracking and scanning systems.
  • Communication: Ability to read, interpret, and follow verbal and written instructions in English (including safety rules and procedure manuals).
  • Cognitive Skills: Ability to work efficiently under deadlines, accurately gauge time/distance, quickly recall instructions, and respond rapidly to changing plant conditions.
  • Reliability: Dependable attendance with the flexibility to work varying start/finish times, including mandatory overtime when needed.


Physical Requirements & Work Environment


  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, push, pull, and stand for long periods of time on the production floor.
  • Dexterity & Mobility: Manual dexterity for fine hand manipulation, ability to work with arms extended/above shoulder height, and ability to safely navigate stairs and uneven plant floors.
  • Sensory: Visual acuity, color differentiation, and the ability to hear instructions/warnings in a loud environment.
  • Environment: Comfortable working in a bustling manufacturing setting with exposure to moving machinery, loud noises, and paper dust. Safe handling of sharp tools (box cutters, knives) and working at heights is required.
