POSITION SUMMARY:
The Server Administrator II will be able to provide high-level planning and coordination for the development and implementation of all aspects of member-facing systems and be responsible for operational procedures and communication with other departments utilizing techniques, access, security, and maintenance of the computing systems.
Provide technical support, design, install, configure, maintain, and perform system integration to our organization. Execute key projects to advance technological capabilities to all member-facing delivery channels.
Additional responsibility includes aligning to Wesom IT technology initiative that includes the Genesys audio servers and applications support for the Contact Center.
Help configure servers within the F5 load balance system in supporting Digital Channels and IT Development redesign of Wescom Mobile application, improve recovery strategy for Online Banking, Wescom.org and other delivery channels infrastructures.
The Server Administrator II position will be responsible for server preparation and executing the recovery procedures between Wescom Primary and disaster recovery datacenter.
Support and engage with technologies primarily in the Microsoft Servers environment. Understands the following IT technologies such as Active Directory and Exchange. Knowledgeable of MS Office 365, VMware and Hyper-V virtualization technologies, SQL, web, email filtering systems, enterprise-level endpoint protection systems, F5 Load balancer, etc.
This position will help extend Wescom's innovative technologies and modernize IT infrastructures within our data centers using Amazon, Azure, and other cloud hosting solutions.
Reports directly to the Director of Production Systems, from whom the overall direction is received.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:
Design, install, configure, and deploy internal and members facing servers within the Development, Staging, Production and Disaster Recovery infrastructures.
Proactively manage and maintain server and F5 Load balancer Systems.
Administer and support Microsoft Server OS, MS VMware, ESXi, resource pools, Storage architecture technologies.
Domain Name registry/purchase and SSL certificate purchase/maintenance.
Develop and implement project plans, risk assessments and contingency plans.
Design and implement monitoring, configuration management and reporting functions that will make a hands-off environment.
Define and document best practices and support procedures.
Provide after-hours support for Infrastructure related emergencies on a rotational basis.
Maintain inventory and asset configuration documentation.
Assist with hardware, firewall, telecom, IT Devops and software vendor evaluation, recommendation and negotiations.
Mentor / cross train team members on existing and innovative technologies.
Conduct special tasks at Management's direction.
Interact with users and vendors at the technical level, as required.
Providing routine data back-up and recovery support.
Participating in system hardware migration and upgrades projects.
Supporting servers across multiple data centers.
Plan changes to servers to eliminate potential problems or resolve current problems.
Function as an Escalation point for Server Software and Hardware Break/Fix. Engage with Hardware and Software vendors, WRG and application support teams to resolve issues.
Other duties as assigned.
OTHER POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Provides support to existing clients in issue identification and resolution in medium highly complex production issues.
Effectively communicates project expectations and status to all team members and stakeholders including business representatives, partners, clients, and implementation team members.
Participates in and occasionally leads regularly scheduled team meetings to identify installation issues and lead team members with problem resolutions.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
High School Education and three plus years firsthand server administration experience required.
Knowledge of fundamentals of network security.
Familiar with TCP/IP networking and general network troubleshooting skills.
Good written and verbal communication skills including technical writing skills.
Must be able to demonstrate a mature and experienced attitude toward administering the server environment; this includes a balance of departmental goals with customer service priorities.
Must be able to plan and schedule tasks and projects efficiently.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Proficient in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
