Job Summary:

Responsible for providing high-end customer service and supporting overall store operations. The Assistant Manager directly oversees all aspects of day-to-day operations and the routine work of Rental Associates. This role upholds business standards, exercises elevated decision-making authority, and serves as a knowledgeable representative of our brand while driving a positive culture within the rental shop. The Assistant Manager also fulfills day-to-day operational responsibilities as needed to support the organization. 

Job Specifications: 

  • Starting Wage: $25.00 - $32.14 /hr
  • Employment Type: Winter Seasonal 2026/2027 
  • Shift Type: Full Time hours available
  • Minimum Age: At least 18 years of age 
  • Housing Availability: No  

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee daily operations of the Rental Shop to ensure smooth, efficient, and guest‑focused service.
  • Support the Manager in opening/closing procedures, staffing assignments, and workflow management.
  • Ensure equipment inventory (skis, snowboards, boots, helmets, etc.) is organized, maintained, and rotated properly.
  • Monitor rental flow to reduce wait times and improve guest experience.
  • Supervise Rental Attendants, Leads, and support staff during assigned shifts.
  • Provide hands‑on coaching, real-time feedback, and support adherence to Vail Resorts’ policies and service standards.
  • Protect company assets through effective loss prevention techniques and by managing inventory for rental products.
  • Manage operational budgets and payroll while aligning staffing and spending with operational needs.
  • Assist with training new employees on equipment handling, sizing, safety protocols, and guest service.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, safety‑first work environment.
  • Ensure all staff follow equipment safety guidelines, fitting procedures, and operational SOPs.
  • Monitor workspace for hazards; take immediate corrective action when needed.
  • Ensure compliance with rental waivers, age/weight guidelines, and equipment safety checks.
  • Other duties as assigned 

Job Requirements: 

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent; Business area training or education preferred
  • 1–2 years of experience in rental operations, outdoor recreation, retail, or hospitality.
  • Previous supervisory or team‑lead experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in a fast‑paced, customer‑facing environment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, holidays, and weekends
  • Ability to lift 30–50 lbs regularly (moving equipment). 

The expected pay range is $25.00 - $32.14 /hr. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
